I Am The Thief

Hi all
Here's a poem about three aspects of a relationship....especially if one happens to be a writer.  

I am the thief
Who comes to you
And steals a moment
By taking something from you
In one blink of an eye.
As the sun sets at dusk
I steal that brief time
When mauve turns to purple.
But I leave in its place
A stirring of love.

Yet I'm also a giver
Who sends to you
A glimmer of hope
Just when a doubt begins.
I'm not a God's messenger
Merely the one who plays
The mandolin near your window.
The one in the bus
Who turns to smile
Just when that smile is needed.

I'm also your peer
Who follows your words
By savouring them at first light
In the depths of your heart.
I'm the one who nods
As I hear your music play
And see your thoughts dance
As they laugh and reflect.
Yes, I am the one that listens
To the inner beat of your soul.
