HELP! I am getting group notifications in my outside e-mail from groups I did not request it from, HELP!

Gather (23) The group Gather Broadcasting has just sent you a message 12:26 pm

What the heck? Yesterday after the upgrade I started receiving notifications from several groups that I did not request it from in my outside e-mail. I checked my e-mail preferences and they have not changed. There are still only the two groups that I requested notifications from. This is really annoying! Does anyone know what is going on here?

Help!

Anyone else having this problem?

YES. I am also missing notifications from my friends publishing... IT is aggravating. I was so happy to see a notice that you posted this!!! I have been finding out through my page when I run out of things to read. of course, I am supposed to be doing research anyway, but what the heck right...lol

I have the same problem,I left some groups already because of it.as for the regular post they are few and far between.

I have. My email inbox has been inundated with messages from this group even though I don't have it checked to receive messages. I don't want to leave, but I can't wade through all those messages.

YES!!!! I hate this as it is flooding my personal email! I love getting the emails in my GATHER account, but this is ridiculous. If you find anything out, let me know!

Yes Lisa, I forgot about that. I am actually not getting the things I want like friend requests, people commenting on your articles, and from the two groups I have set up to notify me. So it is working backwards!

Dame Ruth, I don't care if they send it to my Gather e-mail. I never really look at it unless someone sends something specifically for me (then they send an e-mail notification to my outside Gather account). I think there is over 5K e-mails in there, its a scary place. But, these, from a number of groups, not just that one, are going to my outside Gather e-mail and no I did not ever request that.

Yes, this is happening to me as well. I do not have notifications from several groups selected, yet I am still getting email notifications anyway. At the same time, I am missing email notices from the groups and members I DO want to receive them from. This is very aggravating. Gather is aware of it though, so I hope it gets straightened out soon.

You might try approving email notifications from these groups (on your email preference page) for all activities. Save the settings, then turn them all off and save settings again. I have had limited success turning off some of these unwanted notices this way.

I'd like to complain about this too!

I "unjoined" Gather Broadcasting before I took a few days off to prevent my GATHERmail from being inundated, then rejoined when I returned. As if to spite me, the upgrade means I now get the same notices in both Gathermail AND my outside email, and to make it WORSE, the outside mail doesn't include the name of the person who posted the article.

I don't want to remove myself from the large group again because that's often how I find new people to read, but I guess I will, because a flooded outside email inbox is just not worth the trouble.

Are you still experiencing this problem?

This occurred to me for a short time, then went away. However my notices were group CONTENT notifications, not notices for new gather mail messages.

I am still having this problem too! Of course it was from the last upgrade. I have gone and seen if it was selected, it wasn't. So, I selected it and deselected it and I am STILL getting them. So, I am just ignoring (deleting) them which takes up some time. I hope this gets fixed SOON! :)
