New Picture Perfect "Jagger" Upgrade Looks Great!!

Wow!!  I just had the opportunity to preview the lastest Gather upgrade that will take place tonight.  It involves uploading photos in bulk and sorting your photos into albums. 

 Finally, we can group all our photos into relevant catagories!  Bird shots in an album, vacation photos in an album, family shots in an album... however you want to group them!!!  You create your albums under whatever names you want.  Then you just drag and drop your existing photos in the albums.  Or upload new photos in bulk into an existing album or create a new one.  It's very simple and quick!! 

 Also, you can even choose what photo in your album to display as the cover.  Add and delete photos in your albums any time you want.  Move photos out of one album to another album or remove them from any albums.  Photos can be in albums or not at all.  You will have a separate page with your "other photos" that are not in any albums.

 Oh, one other fun thing is that your photos that are in an album can be viewed as a slideshow!

 Well, that gives you an idea of what is to come with this latest upgrade. 

 And...  I think you are going to LOVE it!!

somehow i just have a feeling that this is going to cost us views are people going to want to go into albums to find our photos with each upgrade i lose more views. So im not sure im going to like it but will wait to see it in actions first before i decided i hate it LOL. oh and will we still be able to feature images?

Yes, you will be able to still feature images, as before, Angela! The four spots on our Profile page for photos and videos will now include albums. We have suggested to Gather that they add a separtate section for the albums, so we can have four albums and four photos/videos.

Your idea of new photos album is good, too!

Great Sue, Gather gave such a nice preview and your review is great. I really enjoyed seeing this in action. I am really excited about this addition to things we can do here on Gather. I have used this program, I just recently uploaded it on my computer from another site and I was just getting ready to start making albums. Now I can do it here instead and have them online and not taking up space on my PC. I think everyone who uploads a lot of photos will love this.

Yes, Trudy, you can drag and drop them into albums without reposting them!! It's quick and easy!

Gather is very smart having members preview new features to pass alopng to the rest of us. Not as much griping - yet. I think this may temper a lot of the negativity that often comes with updates.

I HATE THIS UPGRADE! now for some reason I have 5 copies of your photos in my group wild things LOL and what is so odd its just yours i know you were having problems with people viewing your pics before im wondering now what they have done to you! This upgrade is going to be causing some craziness check your account and see if you have 5 copies of each of your images in there or if anything strange is going on with it

Angela, it appears that when you move existing photos into an album, they are published to all the groups AGAIN! And if you rearrange the photos in the album and save the album, they are published to the groups yet again! I didn't discover this until I had done several saves on an album! GREAT, huh??!! I have added a comment on this problem to the Gather Help article. Sure hope they get this fixed ASAP, as everyone will be getting pretty upset!!!

Great review, Sue! Today is my first day Gathering in a few weeks. This was quite a surprize. I just finished putting my photos into albums. Much to my dismay, I can't put the albums in order. Do you know of a way to do that other than starting from scratch?

I lik ehow the albums are set up as well.
The only thing I don't like is when people submit them to theme groups. But put everything in one album.
