Moving down the list, next on the list of the Hot 100's #1 of each year we have 1959's "The Battle of New Orleans" by Johnny Horton. Horton was a Country/Western singer as well as a Rockabilly Singer who has been inducted into The Rockabilly Hall of Fame. Other accomplishments include being a member of The Delta Music Museum Hall of Fame. His song "The Battle of New Orleans" earned him a Grammy Award in 1960, a Grammy Hall of Fame award, topped Billboards All Time Top Country Songs, came in at 28 on Billboards All Time Top 100, and was named number 333 in the Songs of the Century.
It was also parodied by several artists.

I didn't hear Johnny Horton sing it until I arrived in Australia in 1961.
