A Question For Writers/Publishers/Editors

Does anyone know if it is a good idea to pay a company to review your work? If so, which companies would you recommend?

I currently have a suspense/thriller. My fear is that it is not long enough for an Agent. However, I do believe it will sell a great deal of copies, if I could just get some help with the presentation of it.

In my limited experience, I'm not sure you need to hire someone to review your book for you. If you provide copies to reviewers, many people will review them at no charge. I've done this for authors (with reviews published at Amazon.com and Gather) as well as completing reviews of technical publications for industry journals. If you're looking for a volunteer, you may contact me through Gather-mail.

Are you looking for a review of a published book, or do you want an edit/critique of your work?

If you are looking for a review of a published book there are several places online you can get a book review for free, but if you are looking for editing you should get someone with editing experience to check it.
