"He displayed a steadiness" over the last weeks
"He has both style and substance," Powell said of Obama on NBC's "Meet the Press". "I think he is a transformational figure."
on McCain he said, "he was a little unsure on how to deal with the economic problems we are having", "I was also concerned about the selection of Gov. Palin"
"I don't believe she's ready to be President of the United States."
he said Obama thinks all towns have value
not just small towns
"I would have difficulty with two more conservative appointments to the supreme court"
Powell
I am troubled by what members of the party have said
"Well you know Mr. Obama is a muslim" "and he might be associated with terrorists"
"I'll be voting for Senator Obama" because of his ability to inspire, because of the inclusive nature of his campaign, because he is reaching out all across america,he has met the standard of being a successful president,
being an exceptional president"
I'll be voting for Senator Obama

And, yes, Peter....many people do make their entire decision based on that one issue.
"It troubled me. We have two wars. We have economic problems, we have health problems. ... Those are the problems the American people want to hear about, not about Mr. Ayers, not about who's a Muslim and not a Muslim. Those kind of images going out on Al Jazeera are killing us around the world," he said.
Indeed, if there is an accurate litmus test for whether any American actually knows what they're doing politically its how they feel and what they think about the issue of Sarah Palin ... and her selection as a running mate by John McCain.
What a glorious day this is.
And people laugh at me for believing in the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
That faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life;
That the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations;
That economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise;
That government should be of laws rather than of men;
That earth's great treasure lies in human personality;
And that service to humanity is the best work of life.

It is my hope that those people listened carefully to Colin Powell's words today.

That economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise;
That government should be of laws rather than of men;

AMEN!
I think that needs to go to McCain and his campaign. Thanks for posting it Fred!
Wasnt it Powell who sat in a meeting in the UN with a vial of what he called proof of mass destruction , pushing the agenda to go to war.... now Powell is a saint....
Then her runs his racist mouth that McCain was running negative ads, wasnt it McCain who stood up for Obama when the woman in the crowd called Obama a Muslim? McCain said that Obama was a good man.... Now they say that politics is down and dirty, but I never expected the Dems/ Libs to run away from what they too, supported and voted for....
I think Powell is endorsing Obama because he is black and not the issues... So you can say that the white people who doesnt vote for him is racist....but we on the other hand can say those that dont vote for McCain is racist and for not endorsing Sarah Palin, a racist and a sexist....
Powel is still upset with Bush misleading him with lies.
Here's a 10 for you & thanks for posting at Up All Nite Café.
Well yes, Kimber. He has put on a few extra pounds.
