I used to be a preschool teacher until I became a stay at home mother. Still a stay at home mom but my "baby" is almost 17 and a senior in high school. Guess it is time to look into going back to work.
I, like you, am retired from teaching, but am a volunteer jack of all trades. I am also a student working towards some kind of a degree. I seem to be going toward counseling, basically Christian counselling, but my interest is in cults. I study them, and try to figure out how to get the Gospel to them. So for a living, I get my pension, but these are my avocations.
I am a jack of all trades...LOL. My college degrees says that I'm a biologist (invertabrate zoology) and a chemist (analytical and organometallic)....but I'm also a teacher, mom, and EMT/paramedic.
I do not work any longer. By definition I'm disabled, whether mentally or physically you will have to judge. I sit at my living room window and take photos of the hummingbirds when they are here (took over 9,000 last month) now they are gone for the winter, I photograph anything else that gets in front of my camera and when my hand is steady enough I draw, other wise I'm back here on this contraption creating art or working on one of the over 69,000 photos I've taken over the last five years...
So I guess I do nothing to earn a living...hmmm, maybe that is why I am starving, so does that make me a starving artist?
I'm retired. I have been a stay at home mom. After the kids were all grown I entered the work field and found I had a talent for sales, I was a national sales manager for a very well known horticultural company. I traveled a lot and loved it. But one day I didn't love it anymore so I quit (or retired), now I just travel when the urge hits me. I love my flower garden and I love to read. I have discovered "gather" and I have also discovered that it is addictive and a time robber, but for now I'm hooked. I also spend a great deal of time with my grandchildren.
I am a probate paralegal. I was laid off my job recently and then I convinced my firm to keep me on half-time until I find something new. So, I'm a probate paralegal who looks for jobs now :-)
I'm trying to open a medical transcription service. So, I guess I'm an unemployed medical transcriptionist. I have a business, but no clients yet. So, I deliver newspapers to earn a little money to pay to advertise my medical transcription business.
Hey George W., you made me laugh. That is one of the reasons I like gather, I always get to laugh. I also like controversary and it's always there too especially in the political field.
Construction Manager, for the last two years building only schools in San Antonio but in thew past I was part of the management team that has the Cooper River Bridge (Charleston, SC), The Carolina Bays Parkway (Horry County, SC) and the US64 Bypass in Wake County, NC; among others. All of these projects can be pulled up and viewed on the internet. In fact most of my career can be viewed on the internet so it makes my resume rather a cool, interactive, tool. :+)
Oh, before I went to college late (10 years out of high school, still able to outlast all them whippersnappers and graduated wiht highest honors, 4.02 GPA) I spent my days in the bowels of nuclear power plants removing radioactive asbestos. That was interesting, albeit dangerous, work.
I think George W was caught on videotape smuggling Russian brides across the afghani border. hey, someone has to bring them mail-order brides over here.
I'm a stay at home mom now, but next time we move, I will probably go back to work if I can get a job on base (I'm only licensed in Missouri or somewhere government owned) doing hair part time.
I used to be an Area Manager but I am now registered as Disabled and I still miss working so much even after 6 years I worked all my Adult Life and then just like that it had to stop
I used to be a retail manager, now I am sort of a Jack of all trades. I paint and am starting to get some interest there. I also run a website and forum that focuses on relationships. I also write a couple of columns for local papers. If all else fails, I do ChaCha.
My most important job is a wife and mother. My two year old son needs me more than any job ever will.
My degree is in the legal field, but I have never actually "utilized" it, as my paying job is in a local community bank. I am taking a banking course paid for by my employer at the nearby college, and so far I like it. Perhaps I will earn another degree...? I don't know.
I was a sahm up until June of this year when I decided to look for part time work to help with the bills in the home. I started as a cashier and now have been made customer service lead/bookkeeper in just a few months. I love working again and just find a way to adjust to my hours again.
I'm a paraprofessional by trade in a self-contained special needs room. I've also been a sub in the school system that I am currently assigned too. I have a dream of someday running my business which would allow me to visit classrooms or other groups to educate people about the natural world.

I am a service coordinator/shipping manager/purchaser/administrative assistant for a small company. I am also a soccer coach, a writer (have had work published in magazines just not sold my books yet), a mom, a newlywed wife, a dancer mom, a boyscout mom etc. LOL
