Well I haven't been around much lately...but it's been busy here! lol During my month of vacation where I was off to see my kids/grandkids and Mom Bill here at home developed kidney stones. He went by ambulance to the hospital while I was away. After coming home we waited for them to pass. We thought they had passed one evening as it looked liked stones in the porcelain ;). But he ended up with pain the next day...so it was a no go that he had passed them. They had put him on flowmax, which I guess was to help open up the ureter to help them pass. This also made the pain of trying to pass them ease up. Well a week ago on Friday he went into have them removed surgerically. Everything went great. :) He was left with a stent in him to be removed this past Thursday..all that was left showing was a string that they were going to use to pull out this stent. We had thought this stent was probably around 3" in length they had to 'pull out'...nope..he said from the looks of it it looked to be at least 12" or better. It went all the way to his kidney! OUCH! He had a brief episode of severe pain after coming home after the removal and we were back on the phone to the doc as he had been told it was rare but possible the ureter could collape after removal of the stent. After taking a darvocet and 3 ibpropins at once the pain subsided. Thank goodness. He never ever complains of being sick or in pain...so when he does I KNOW he's a hurtin. He's only had a few episodes of a few twinges of pain so I'm hoping all this is over with now. :)
Plus we've had frost warnings up and I've been collecting things from the garden to dry or freeze or eat...lol
I'm sorry I haven't gotten around to answering everyones comments. I meant to after coming home but then all this has gone on with the kidney stones.
Here's a pic of yesterdays last pickings from the garden. I'm sure everything that didn't get zapped last night will get it soon. There isn't much of anything worth picking out there now anyways.
I hope you've all had a good past month! :) Crossing my fingers I'm back more full time now. :)
Pickins from yesterday:
Herbs that I've got drying in my office. :) Sure does smell good up here! I brought in my rosemary plant this year. It was container grown so I'm going to see if I can winter it inside. They die on me outside every year. The ones I'm trying to dry are coming along good! :)

And you can send any left over veggies my way...those carrots look good.
I'm afraid those carrots aren't lasting long. Bill's been munching on them all day..lol
And the harvest looks fabulous :)
Thanks on the harvest. The peppers are sliced and frozen. I need to dice up the celery and freeze...and Bill's munching away on the carrots..lol

Your veggies look great. I just finished crumbling up my dried herbs and jarring them. I may have a few more to snip as I didn't harvest the thyme or oregano yet. But we haven't had a good frost here yet. I just finished picking all of my peppers of the weekend and we planted lettuces and about 45 heads of garlic! :)
My rosemary always dies it I bring it inside, I'm lucky our winters are usually pretty mild as mine does better outside.
I have to get to crumbling my herbs..they are dry now. My rosemary seems to be doing ok since I brought it in. I have such poor lighting in most of my windows. I'm hoping it does well..it's such a nice sized plant. More like a small bush. ;)
Our celery did better this year than past years. Last year it looked like straws..lol This year it got a bit bigger. I used some in my bean soup I made and it had great flavor. We'll try it again this next year. Maybe we'll get bigger ones yet...lol
Anything left in our garden is gone. We've had some pretty hard frosts. Although I noticed a few of my herbs are still doing ok. They are close to the house. I've got to figure out what I'm doing with my stevia. This was the first year for growing it..now to find where I saw out here how to turn it into a liquid sweetner. ;)
Wow alot of garlic! I just planted my too the other day. Only about 20 heads. Now you got me to thinking I should plant more..lol I'm the only one who eats it here though.
Where's that EDIT button?!?! lol
