Space Heaters ... Cutting Heating Costs!

Curious about what are the best brands? What about safety and buying tips? I am now looking to find safe and affordable space heaters to help heat my home until I can get a new furnace and also to use to help me cut costs even after the new furnace is installed.

During a recent annual furnace cleaning it was discovered that my heat exchanger had a crack. My furnace is 24 years old and the part is no longer available. So, I need a new furnace--which I can not afford.

I am getting 2nd & 3rd opinions and quotes to try to find the best deal and still be efficient. Wish me luck...

Sorry to hear about your heater. I am located in Southern California, so don't have any advice. Last year it was 80 degrees on Christmas Day.

have you tried talking to your local fia (dhs or other social welfare place.. they may know of a place that will help with the purchase of a new furnace.. even salvation army helps out a lot...

i have a space heater that looks like a neat fireplace.. has saved us many a times from turning up the heat to take the morning chill off the house...
