Of course, many parents/grandparents enjoy taking the kiddo's trick or treating. The fun of dressing up; imagination and among a few, getting the candy in the bucket. But my father and I have had a discussion about it all; some parents at his factory work hand out their childrens' candy that they get after only giving them a few pieces.
My personal views on trick or treating and candy reside around, putting all the candy in a bowl; in the cabinets away and letting the children have a few pieces a day or for encouragement good behavior, efforts or just a snack. Some parents - my father himself, use to let me eat the whole bucket in a night.
What is your views as a parent/grandparent? Do you give your child/ren a few pieces? Not give them any at all and give away to adults? Or let them have the whole thing?
PLEASE : No judgment with this article. Please respect everyone's responses and views on this matter.
Thank you!

Halloween isn't much different. We take them trick-or-treating for the fun of it and not the candy! They get a couple pieces Halloween night - from houses of people that we know! After we get home, they get to pour it all out on the floor and look through it. We throw away ALL the open wrappers and homemade candy, or candy in ziploc bags if it isn't individually wrapped pieces.
We put the chocolate candy in the fridge and keep our other favorites, like tootsie rolls. The rest of the candy ends up in my daughter's birthday pinata in January! LOL!
If they were allowed, they'd eat 90% of the bag by November 2nd.
Me and Nick end up raiding the candy quite a bit.
Last year, someone gave us a candy cane. No, not one from the Christmas coming up, but left overs from the year before. Yuck!
I remember trick or treating as a kid. We would get the FULL SIZE bars - this was back before they even came out with the little bars. I don't remember when the price of chocolate went up -- I think around the 70s, then they started making the smaller bars.
omg -- I've turned into my parents! I'm telling stories about how it was when i was a kid.
And we used to trick or treet up hill with no shoes on in the snow for 5 miles...........hahaha..............
And, also, my hubby and I have to inspect them first.
Then, we play the sorting game and they count up candy by categories. After that they trade among themselves... I have never had to ration out the candy. They usually have what they want on Halloween and self-regulate the next few days. By the end of the week I would be packing up bags to take in to work.
