Seventh Grade Girls Strip Searched : Final Update

Yes this entire post is opinionated.

I guess the students of Trinity Lutheran School can rest easy now. According to the Monroe County Chief Assistant Prosecutor there was no crime when students were strip searched at the school. Never mind the fact that one of the people suspended (with pay) was a custodian who helped in the strip search though his role in the search is unknown to me. A custodian? Yeah this person has been trained in the psychologyand education of children. Must have been that class between Sweep the floors 101 and Take out the Trash 110 called Strip Searching Students and its Benefit on Young Girls 220.

The principal hasnt decided if he is coming back after the suspension but has been offered a financial package should he choose to resign. The principals attorney had this to say :

"I don't think he did anything wrong, In my opinion, he acted appropriately. He deserves to remain as principal."

The school seems to have agreed.

In short... They intend to sweep it under the rug to avoid making the school and community look bad. Hopefully parents remember this in Monroe when they elect the next officials. Whether they be Democrat or Republican, they arent fit to hold their positions in my opinion. I would hope parents would care more about their kids than to send their kids back to Trinity. Whats going on just isnt right in my opinion.

There has been a lawsuit filed on behalf of at least one student.

IMO, this looks like someone might have made a mistake, but I really don't think it is sick unless it was sexually motivated, and it appears as if it was not. Reading the comments after the news artcile, we can see that religious people can sure be just as mean towards others as everybody else.

I have to agree with Don ~ I really believe this was wrong no child should ever be forsced to to remove clothes in school unless its for gym and they have a place for that and why the janitor this wasnt his job at all ~ in fact maybe it was the school nurses instead HUH ~ any way what could seventh grade girls do that would make this happen ? I find any religious school much more intolerant then regular schools thank God for home schooling . and yes if it had happened to my child she would never darken those school doors again ~~~ No one has that right ! and in a country where a 6 year old cant kiss his first love with out a being a sex pervert ~ No I am not going there ~

Our WONDERFUL justice system once again!!
If I were the parent of those children I'd be suing the school, the board, and EVERY person involved in the strip search. My child certainly would NOT be returning to that school!!!

I'm sorry, if I had children and that happened to one of my daughters, they would be arresting ME for doing some very, very bad things to those teachers! What kind of backwater town is that?

WTF?? A custodian? Sounds a little scary to me. That's just disgusting. What was the school thinking, doing this anyway??

I'm with Patty. Heads would have rolled had this been my children.

That's totally ridiculous. What the school officials did is wrong on every level. If they had suspected the girls of theft, they should have called their parents down, and had them decide what to do afterward. No one should ever be stripped in school, for any reason at all. And, for the principal to be paid, is an atrocity. Thank God that my kids don't go to that school, I would take my case all the way to the Supreme court, if I had to.

I wish I wouldn't have read this. Yes, they always sweep these things under the carpet, oh yea, give the guy a nice financial package to go with it. This is just sickening. I might sound like an awful, awful person, but if some idiot did that to my daughter, no one would ever have to worry about it being done again. I thought my daughters school was ridiculous. I think they should both be pushing a broom somewhere else, like a jail cell.

Well. if that was my girls, I would have gone to the school. If anyone would have tried to stop me. They would have to put me in Jail. As my Attorney would have been with me. My children would never go back to that school.

that is totally redoculas i would press charges to the fullest extent no body has that right as far as the school system goes and in my book nobody has the right to strip search children like that i think they the teachers and anyone involved should face charges i would have been going to jail because i would have tryed to beat someone

I think we all don't know the whole story. Trust me when I say that newspapers don't always print ALL the info or partial truths. I'm not taking anyone's side but it would be better to judge with ALL the facts not just what the media presents to us.

While I'm not violent by nature, I would be tempted to pound some sense into anyone who thinks a male custodian searching my daughter that way is "nothing wrong." How is this tolerated in the community?

crazy stuff, if a search of persons was necessitated it should have been conducted by law enforcement women and i find it difficult to believe a search was necessitated in the first place... its all about POWER - thats what it sounds like to me

It wouldn't matter if it were a nurse. A child should not be stripped searched by any one other than the same sexed parent.
