For the past few weeks, the Gather Book Club has met to discuss the New York Times Bestseller, Water for Elephants. I'm excited to announce that on Wednesday, 10/22 @ 8PM ET, Sara Gruen, the author of the book will join us for a chat here in Gather.
Do you have questions about the characters in the book or why the author gave them the fates she did? Or maybe you're curious about what inspired Sara Gruen to write a book about the circus? Post your questions on Water for Elephants in the comment field below.

Did she feel that Rosie's reactions to August were able to provide the voice Marlena couldn't bring forth in the sections before Marlena left August?
Because I'm always interested how much fiction might be based on fact, I wonder if Ms. Gruen researched circus life at the time the story takes place and whether she based any of the characters and situations in the story on her research. Which characters/situations, and what are they based on?
Is the story exaggerated, or was this life really common then?
My question is whether she interviewed any circus people while researching the book - and have any circus people written in to tell her they liked the story?
Sorry I can't be here for the chat, and I hope it goes well in spite of the "patch" that will log everyone off at 8. I'm not staying because I haven't finished the book yet, and don't want it ruined for me.
My question is:
What do you have on the front burner for your next book?
