Who's been to Disneyland?

I'm looking for any tips/advice on planning a trip to Disneyland.

How much do you think I need to save for a family of four?

How many days do you stay?

Where do you stay?

When's the best time to go? Is it cheaper certain times of the year?

Do you know of any sites or forums that help with planning?

I have never been to Disneyland, but I have been to Disney World. If it is anything like Disney World, it costs a pretty penny. Save up!!!

Its expensive. My parents took my two kids and the trip itself cost almost 2000.00 just for hotel, park admission, treats in the park, souvineirs. that didnt count the gas, meals, and other odds and ends. And that was 4 years ago. I imagine its more expensive now. It is cheaper in the winter to go. Of course if you shop around online you can find deals on this and that but considering it is out of my price range regardless I have no sites to suggest. Best of luck to you.

Strange to live in California and not know about Disneyland. So then, even your neighbors, friends, the grocer, the mailman, your hairdresser -- no one around you knows, huh?

This is a little off the theme, but... When I was a kid, I'd been to Disneyland maybe a dozen times, and thought it was a lot of fun. Then my friend's mother, who worked at the Disneyland Hotel took us to a movie at a theater inside the park, when the park was closed. Seeing that place vacant of people with everything turned off and dark left a greater impression than the sparkly clean overly-sanitized "happiest place on earth."

Go on line to Disney and see if they are offering some discount packages. You just never know what they might offer. Hope you have a blast.

My mom took my two kids 12, 13 to universal studios she said she spent more on food than anything else, and if you want an express ticket so you don't have to wait in the long lines thats even more. they did universal studios one day and sea world the next the third day we were so tired we went to to beach and swam and relaxed. all together the trip cost about 5000

I just took my 5 year old in August and we had a blast. How old are your kids? My mom and I took my 5 year old for 3 nights/4 days and it was perfect. We had enough time to do everything he wanted but didn't stay too long. I knew my two year old would be too young to enjoy it and would just make the trip harder, so he stayed home with my husband. When he gets bigger I want to go as a family, but this trip was perfect for my 5 year old. We planned the trip through costco and I thought we got a pretty good deal along with extra little perks. I've heard that AAA has good Disneyland packages too. For me it was easier to plan everything as a package and not have to worry about the little details.

I grew up near and worked at Disneyland, so I am not so good with the travel part for tips.

However, I will tell you this. One of your biggest expenses once in the park is food. You are better off leaving the park for meals. I know that it isn't healthy, but there is a McDonald's right across the street. It is easy to go over there and you will save a bundle.

For tickets, you can get some great deals on park entrance fees with the packages, either direct from Disney or AAA.

As far as time of year, anytime when most kids are in school is going to be better and try to shoot for midweek. During the summer is so hot and busy that it isn't as much fun as it can be. Also, by going midweek, you might get a break on hotel rooms.

i used to live in california so we always went to disneyland,I have also been to disneyworld.It cost us 120 bucks for the four of us to get into disneyworld

To get into any of the Disney parks, it is $72.00 each for one day!!!
You can go down there and sign up to sit through a time share presentation to get 2 of those tickets for free.
Just don't get suckered into buying!!!!

Amy... Disneyland is different than Disney World. Disneyland is in California and Disney World is in Florida.

Gosh, haven't been to Disneyland, but we've been to Disney World probably about 10 times, in our son's 21 years.....LOL!!!! It has gotten VERY expensive.....I heard recently that now tickets to the theme parks have gone up.........that now it's $75 per day, per person!!!!!!! It would be quite a bit cheaper to stay outside the park, in just a "regular" motel.......oftentimes, you can get "packages," which save on a lot of money.

wish I could help ya,,I went for my honey moon,but it was all paid for except for my alcohol and anything I wanted to buy as souvaniers but Id say your gonna probably need a few thousand...not including meals,hotel stay ect..

I'm thinking that the website has options that include the price of packages that are almost all inclusive. Then I would definitely plan to take a good bit extra too. There are always something coming up that you will want money for I would think.

Never been to Disneyland but have been to Disney World over 25 times. I'm sure it is different prices at different times Value, peak, and off season. check out this website mousesavers.com offers a list of their different specials they have. One of my fav sites to visit! Also sign up for everything Disney related you can! They do special mailings to emails, addresses, and people. No one really knows how to get on their "targeted" list but it changes all the time. Then when you call to make you ressies ask them if you have a code attached to your name, email, phone number, or addy! Check Disney.com for their special offers too.

We stayed across the street at the Annabella. It was a wonderful hotel. The trip was expensive but worth every penny! I do recommend going during the week if you can, otherwise it is really packed and you have to wait in long lines. Downtown Disney has some really cool features too like a HUGE Build-A-Bear workshop!

never been to disney land but have been to disney world many times....... our best times were when we camped at fort wilderness.....we had a camper but you could rent them......... everything is expensive.......expect to spend lots of money....... pif

It will take as much money as you have and will never be enough days for your kids. That said, there are all sorts of discounts available. Take advantage and have a great trip.

You can minimize costs a bit by carrying fruit and juice boxes for snacks. Their absence will make room for souvenirs.
