Why is it that each and every season there tends to be a tribe that just sucks? Gabon's resident "horrible" tribe is Fang who, once again, lost double challenges and sent yet another out of the game. As we begin from last episode we join the Fang tribe post-tribal council. Ace wasn't too happy with Jacquie going home but was at least excited to have Sugar back. She returned from her third run in with Exile Island to learn Kelly stayed while Jacquie was voted out. Sugar wasn't happy as well as she was close to Jacquie and hid her anger through the dark.
The next morning the old Fang members over at Kota were realizing how much better their lives were. They had food food and more food with the several fish they caught. They even had a very interesting shocking fish, which made a somewhat boring moment at least somewhat interesting. Back over at Kota things were completely opposite with the fighting beginning once again. While cooking rice, GC didn't want to eat but was told by Crystal to eat his rice. She was doing so in a very joking manor but GC couldn't take it and fought back. Ace was excited for it all though knowing there were cracks in the alliance of old Fang members. That's all he really needed to weasel his way to the next round.
At their next reward challenge Kota found out that Jacquie was sent home. Considering three of her old members are still on Kota, they weren't too pleased to see her go. Most were assuming that Fang would send home Kelly but strategy played them and Marcus, Charlie, and Corinne were now down one member putting them at three. For the reward the tribes were playing for spices and herbs to take back to camp, along with a basket of fruit. What they had to do was throw fruit through a wooden hole to another tribe mate on the other side. There would be a player of the opposite tribe in between the two trying to block the fruit.
Early on Fang was doing very well and had half their basket full while Kota had nothing. Ace was doing all of the blocking for Fang and really putting them ahead but then Dan had an idea that worked. If he threw two pieces of fruit at once at least one would get through. It ended up working and putting several pieces through quickly for Kota. Fang continued to do well as Charlie couldn't block the fake outs from Matty and Kelly. The only bad part was they were throwing smaller pieces of fruit compared to Kota's larger pieces. In the end Fang's basket weighed 16 pounds while Kota squeaked out the win with 16.2 pounds. Even though Kota didn't compete as well this time around they still pulled through, continued Fang's downward spiral to Tribal Council.
With their new bounty food, Kota was back in heaven as they added fruit and herbs to their already abundant pantry. As the tribe prepared for the Immunity Challenge, the old Fang members came up. Marcus let us know that Dan was talking way too much while Susie wasn't talking enough. Dan wouldn't shut up about having tribe unity in the merge while Susie didn't really say anything at all. Randy, on the other hand, was kind of neutral in al this as he went swimming while the others enjoyed the fruit. Since he's pulling his weight in the challenges Randy doesn't seem to worry too much but who knows in the game of Survivor. Since Sugar is the resident Exile Island inhabitant, she was sent back to her ‘Sugar Shack' to eat and "get fat" as she said. Exile Island isn't really fun when there isn't much to do other then eat pineapple and swim all day long.
Back over at Fang things were looking up as Matty realized there was an elephant just across the pond. It was really an amazing scene as the tribe sat there, watching the elephant graze and tear down several trees. Since this was the first real "wildlife" to actually interact with the players it makes you realize they really are out there in the wilderness. Matty and Ace got in the boat and paddled out closer to the elephant, who didn't really do too much but still it was a great moment. A few hours later it was time for the tribe to head out for their Immunity Challenge. Although it was time to leave, GC was missing as he went out in the canoe just before. Matty, Kenny and Kelly screamed and yelled, looking for GC since they would have had to leave without him. This set Crystal off more then before as she didn't want to be screaming for a grown man. Luckily he returned just in time and they didn't have to be a person down.
The Immunity Challenge was similar to a giant game of plinko with a blocker in the end. Each tribe would have five members throw a caged ball down a hill, trying to roll the ball into a gate for points. Down at the bottom one player would be blindfolded, trying to block the balls. The last member would be the caller for the blocker to tell them where to go. In the first round both balls got through Ace and Dan, who were blocking, and gave Fang 5 points while Kota had 2. The next go around Dan ended up blocking blocking the ball of Fang thanks to Randy's calling while Ace had no clue where he was doing as Sugar wasn't too that great a job. The third round was very interesting as Dan blocked his own ball, letting Fang get even further ahead in the challenge. Ace was also hit in the face with Dan's shield, making that the second time Dan injured Ace this episode. In the last two rounds Kota was able to catch up, giving Fang only a one point lead. In the last throw Dan ended up blocking Fang's ball, allowing Kota's ball to get into the goal and giving them the win. Once again can I saw how sucky Fang is doing?
Back at the Fang camp they once again had to figure out who to send home. GC was first up to talk and told Matty that he wanted to go home. He didn't really say that he wanted to quit but close to it. Matty then went to Crystal and let her know the deal, she was very ready to vote GC out if he wanted to leave just to get him out. She told Ace and Kenny how she was voting and it seemed like a done deal. BUT while Ace and Sugar were swimming in the pond, Crystal took a look into Sugar's back and found the Hidden Idol. Kenny, Kelly and Matty were there with her and the four now knew that Sugar held the Hidden Idol. That knowledge changed things as they realized it would probably be the best time to blindside Sugar and get the Hidden Idol out of play and back into circulation. At Tribal Council it still wasn't sure if Sugar or GC would be the vote but it ended up Fang finally made a smart move and got rid of their "cancer" in GC. Will it help them in the long run? Lets hope!
