I have written several articles about abortion being murder of unborn children. A few other writers on Gather have also written about this and have been attacked for doing so. One writer in particular writes about the evils of killing unborn children, she backs it up with indisputable facts and shows much compassion in her comments, but each article she writes is met with accusations from those in favor of a woman murdering her children. And anyone who comments in support of her is also attacked.
Recently, I was attacked for my comments and told that I am 'judging' and Jesus said not to judge, so therefore, I should not be saying what I am in my comments. And I should not be writing articles in support of the unborn. So, I made up my mind to post this article to show just what Jesus said and what it means for us. What it means for me.
Each time a writer posts an article on abortion and declares how wrong they are, many find the articles offensive. These ones don't just read and 'walk away.' They have things to say about the writer. Without fail, someone will say the writer should not be 'judging' and they base this on something Jesus said. But exactly what did Jesus say, and what does it mean?
Jesus said 'don't be judging, for with the measure you are measuring out, you will be measured, and with the judgment you are judging, you will be judged.' I am not quoting exactly, but it's close enough for the point I am going to make.
Jesus also said: that if we JUDGE WITHOUT MERCY, our judgment will be without mercy. And he said we are to know what God wants if we look at him and his life as He represented God whom we cannot see. Jesus told us to 'follow' him. Paul said to imitate Christ.
So, did Jesus 'judge' others? If so, how did he do that? Should we follow that example keeping in mind his words about judging? In partial answer to that question, consider what he said about bad men. He said: 'by their fruits, you will recognize them.' He pointed out that you can't get good fruit from a rotten tree, nor rotten fruit from a good tree. A rotten tree can only produce rotten fruit.
And Jesus clearly stated to his disciples that the religious leaders, the scribes and Pharisees were producing rotten fruit. He condemned their activities, he condemned their attitudes, and their haughty disdain for others. He told his followers to avoid these ones, to avoid being like them or imitating their actions and attitudes. And he stated to the offenders themselves just how guilty they were and what would happen if they didn't change their ways. For proof, read Matthew chapter 23. No stronger condemnation of wrongdoing has ever been uttered or written.
So a Christian looks at this, reads that one should imitate Jesus, not judge, not to judge without mercy, and what to do in the case of those who bear rotten fruit. How do we apply these commands?
Jesus had many come to him. There were two reasons they did this. One: they loved what he was saying and wanted to comply with his commands recognizing that what he said was all true. Two: they hated what he was saying, didn't want to comply with his commands and recognizing that he was speaking truth, wanted him to stop.
The latter ones not only wanted him to stop, they vowed that if he did not stop, they would stop him. They tried to push him off a high cliff to his death, but he escaped. They accused him of doing all of the things they themselves were doing, they accused him of every sin and violation of law they could dream up and they voiced their lies loud enough and long enough that they influenced some of the crowds to follow their lead. And they led them right to the point of demanding that Jesus be put to death.
When Jesus told us to 'watch out for the leaven of the Pharisees', to look out for the rotten fruit, he was telling us to 'judge the actions of others' and not be like them. He told us to follow his example. The example he set for us includes pointing out the rotten, poisonous fruit of those who claim to be telling the truth, but have evil intent in what they say and the lies they tell.
And furthermore,he warned us that in doing these things, we would be hated as he was hated. He pointed out that when we condemn the actions of others as being against God's laws, they would not listen, they would not hear, but would hate us for saying it. He didn't give us directives on deciding who lives and who dies PERSONALLY. But he did say that those who ignore God's laws face that eventuality.
Some accuse Christians of 'judging' wrongly because we speak out about the evils of murdering unborn children. They lie and say that these are not babies, but that women have a 'right' to do as they please with their own bodies and that any who say otherwise lack compassion and need to 'change' what they are saying.
This reminds me of a certain group that Jesus told us to avoid. Certainly if we don't speak out, we won't be hated. If we do speak out, we are hated. Is there a big decision there? Not for me. I made that choice long ago. To speak or not to speak is not the question for me. The only question I have to ask myself is: am I speaking it loud enough and clear enough to be doing as Jesus was doing?

But..... there are a thousand ways the Bible is interpreted and each individual feels in their heart they're right. Everyone gets something different out of the Bible when they read the scriptures. What makes you convinced YOU are right?
I'm not meaning this to be an attack. I don't understand you can say what you get out of the Bible is what it actually means. Do you get my point?
It's late. I'm off to bed. Have a good night. :-)
when you have verses from Christ Jesus saying not to judge, judge with mercy, make judgments about good fruit and bad fruit....all of these must reconcile....they all have to be the right thing to do....there has to be a way to work them all in together...
in the old part of the Bible...called the Old Testament...because of the 'law', there were Prophets who were told by God to preach and tell the rest of the people what they needed to know in order to keep living....they had to give a warning....Jeremiah got to the point where he wanted to quit because no one was listening, but it became a fire in his bones and he had to preach again......Ezekiel was told that if he did not warn the wicked that they would die, he would have to die with them...
none of these guys were told to go to the Wicked...Evil...people and tell them what was going to happen and why in a kind, loving way...they had to say it plain out without mincing words.......and they when they did this....the people hated them and some, like Jeremiah were threatened and came close to being killed.....some, according to what Jesus said in Matthew 23 were murdered for telling it like it needed to be said...and if you read enough of the prophets, you find out who some of these guys were and what they had to go through..
I speak with kindness to those who want to learn and change....
I don't speak with kindness to those who knowingly kill unborn babies....PP knows what they are doing...there are many who support that organization here on gather and they too know what they are doing....and they are continually bringing up the same tired excuses as to why the rest of us should keep quiet and allow babies to go on dying.
I can't do that. Are you aware that PP doesn't want teenagers to be encouraged to wait to have sex until they are adults, and married? Why is that unless they want to have more 'patients' to perform abortions on and babies to kill in order to make money.
I have studied the Bible and I know I am right on this. I cannot, in good conscience, stop saying it. Babies cannot speak for themselves.
I hope you have a good night.
I agree that abortion is wrong.
Many things the government tried to control at one time, they have given the choice back to the individuals. And I think they were right to do so.
We are a group of diverse people coming together in America. We want people to have as much freedom as possible but still have an obligation to provide a descent environment to protect the citizens. Each voter brings his own life's philosophy to the voting booth which is the purpose of voting.
The problem comes as the general philosophy of the citizens changes over time. Showing the ankle for a woman was indecent at one time. Someone in shorts would have been arrested. Skirts got shorter. After the 1960's the life philosophy of huge portions of citizens changed radically and so did their votes at the poles. The collective code of decency began to deteriorate as the majority of citizens rejoiced in new freedom of thought. They have a right to do that.
Divorce is no longer government business. Living together without being married is no longer a matter of law. And I agree with that.
In fact I want the government to quit trying to control how parents discipline their children unless the child is injured criminally. I want government out of community schools. Yet ... I want local gov't to control the library decency code for children. It really is hard for society to come together and agree on social standards.
The government will never allow anyone to murder someone else and we all agree in that area. That's what makes abortion different than all of the other social changes. It is murder.
But I think it is important to realize that people that don't know the Lord ... or spend little time studying His word cannot know how serious it is. I think we can say they are wrong philosophically. Adam's spirit died. He passed that dead spirit on to all his children. That is why God said we all died in Adam. If Adam passed the dead spirit down to his child is HAD to be at the moment of conception. He certainly couldn't pass it down to him on the day of birth. Too late. It is not a spiritless baby that was born and God breathed into him a new spirit on the day of his birth or the spirit that came from God would be alive and the baby would be a new Adam without a sinful nature. God would not breath into that child a dead Spirit. Yet God said we are all born dead. Proof that the continueous line of dead spirits were in the sperm of man & passed to the child at conception resulting in his sinful nature. Yet the spirit still gives the baby life and soul.
A big differemce ..a distinction..I make when I write an article on abortion is that I am not talking about what the government says...I am not talking about voting...It is not up to me to say what role government has in our lives..I don't make decisions for them to say how many freedoms they will allow me to have. I believe what the Bible says about the man made government being allowed by God to rule for a time, to provide services we cannot provide for ourselves, such as law enforcement. When there is no law, there is anarchy. If the police go on strike, no one stops at red lights, or obeys other laws that are for the good of the community. The government provides many services. As far as marriage licenses...this was a protection for the woman and her children to have support from the man. And for the children to have a legal inheritance. Many laws are for the good of the people and the Bible allows for that, and tells Christians to be obedient to those laws.
But my articles about the unborn are not about the law of man. Some men, and women, decided to allow women to kill their young under a 'right' that did not exist. There is no 'right to privacy' in the Constitution. There is a right not to have your belongings illegally searched or seized, but there is no right to privacy in the Constitution.
There used to be a law giving a man the 'right' to beat his wife as long as he applied the rule of thumb....the stick couldn't be any bigger than his thumb. In some men, that could be pretty big. Man's laws are not perfect and they cannot overstep God's laws and be okay. If they overstep God's laws, then they are wrong and should not be.
But, I am not talking about man's laws here. I am talking about the rights of babies, the freedom of speech for me to say what those rights are and that to say I should not speak out because I am judging and judging is wrong is so incorrect according to God's law..not man's.
I've never said you were wrong in you cause.
Speaking of Constitutional Rights. Where does it say that a fetus/embryo has a right to life? Be careful with terminology here. There is a distinct different between embryo/fetus/baby/child. Look in your Websters dictionary or better yet, your medical dictionary. Calling it a baby/child is an 'opinion'.
If there is no 'right to privacy' in the Constitution, how can anyone say there is a right for life for an embryo/fetus?
Another thing. Not everyone believes in the Biblical god. Many, many have different faiths (many of which worship our same god, but under a different religion. Islam..for example believes in the same god as Christians. Their doctrine is different.) What gives Christians the Right to force our beliefs on others? God? Well....radical Muslims have the same mentality and look where that has gotten them.....and the world. You start forcing your religion on others, then wars break out. Nobody likes to be force fed anything. How would you like a Muslim elected into the presidency and he ended up making his beliefs law? It's the same difference as you speak. The Constitution does not give the right for anyone to force their beliefs on anyone. There is the Freedom of Religion, yes, but it doesn't give us the right to force it on anyone. People came here for religious freedoms and not to be persecuted for their beliefs and not to be forcefed another belief. Spreading the word is forcing it to a degree, but it is taken less offensively if done with love and compassion and not hatred and anger. You'll be met with opposition every time.
I do not expect any women...or men..who belong to PP to change their minds because of anything I could say. They know what they are doing. They know they are taking life when they perform an abortion. My 'religion' has nothing to do with whether or not they listen. I could be an atheist but still believe that the unborn deserve to live just as much as any other person, but if I say the baby deserves to live, they still resist it just the same. BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO CHANGE!!
As for the woman who has had an abortion: if they have had one, and still argue for their 'rights', then they too know what they have done. They would and do make the same choice again.
If they have had an abortion and realize and REGRET what they have done, they won't argue for the 'right' to do it anymore. They wil be out on the front lines to keep someone else from killing their baby.
Nothing I can or could say will make abortionists change their minds.
And if you read the books of the prophets, you will see how much they hated the ACTS AND ACTIONS AND ATTITUDES OF THE PEOPLE TO WHOM THEY PREACHED. One man called out for God to send a bear on a bunch of children who were calling him names and wanting him to die. How do you know what was in his heart at the time?
How do you know what is in my heart? All you can do is see what I have written.
Surely, I have had to listen to women...and men..say how they have the 'right' to kill the unborn. And the 'right to privacy' does not exist in the Consitution. That is a made up idea from the Court back in the 70's.
Since men ..and women..know now just when the tiny heart starts beating, and when the brain is formed, they should be willing to protect the life of the baby. No one would sit back and allow people to shoot down Mexicans, Hondurans, Brazilians, etc. as they cross the border. BUT THOSE PEOPLE ARE NOT PROTECTED BY THE U.S. CONSTITUTION EITHER!!!!!
And, Muslims do not worship the God I do. Their life and their worship doesn't enter in to this as far as I'm concerned, but if you don't know: MANY MUSLIMS WILL TELL YOU ABORTION IS WRONG!! They would tell you that it is against the Koran.
I'M NOT FORCING MY RELIGION ON ANYONE. NO ONE HAS TO READ THIS ARTICLE. NO ONE. THE TITLE CLEARLY RESPRESENTS IT IS ABOUT MY BELIEF. If a person feels as though I am 'forcing it down their throat', it's only because they have read it and don't like what they have read. This is the abortionist.
I don't go and read all of the diatribe and rhetoric on the others' pages. I dont' go and read all of that stuff because a lot of it turns my stomach. And some of it I read, and move on without comment, because it turns my stomach. Sometimes I comment on an abortion article. I do so for one reason: to support others who are commenting, or who wrote the article and are being attacked by those who want to keep it legal.
I cannot sit idly by not say anything for the babies. But you must recognize that whatever we say to those who want to abort the unborn, who want to keep their profits going, will be as acid to them: NO MATTER WHAT WORDS WE USE. My feelings will show through: I love babies! Those who murder them .....DESERVE WHATEVER THE CREATOR GIVES THEM.
Each one will get something from God: A REWARD...OR A PUNISHMENT. People don't have to stop and read this if they don't want to. Just as I don't have to stop on their pages and read what they write.
And if you read again what I said about being 'judge and jury'...that phrase can't apply to this issue. I can make the 'judgement that what they are doing and saying in regard to the unborn is ROTTEN FRUIT. I can decide that I want nothing to do with such people. As one who believes that 'a cry must go up to heaven' for God to hear, as He has in ancient times, I must 'speak out' as I see my obligation to do.
It is THEN UP TO GOD TO DECIDE WHO IS TELLING THE TRUTH, WHO DESERVES A REWARD AND WHO DESERVES PUNISHMENT. But, He has made the LAW ALREADY: EYE FOR EYE, TOOTH FOR TOOTH, .....LIFE FOR LIFE.... I am just pointing it out as I have the right, and obligation.. to do.
Just a person espressing their thoughts and feelings over taking the life of unborn babies.
Amen.
thank you again for understanding what this article is all about. I will continue to write about this subject though many disagree with me for doing it, not just disagree with what I have said, but the fact that I have dared to say it.
Now, our instructions toward the "career" unbelievers? - “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces.”
The Lord's most important message to all of us is salvation. From born again, changed hearts, will bloom a new creature and a new behaviors. Most unbelievers don't realize that we already know that we don't deserve salvation. We received our salvation simply because we asked for it in faith. No merit or worthiness involved, nothing to commend us. That same gift is freely offered to them as well. To accept or reject it is their own choice and thus they determine their own eternity.
While the legalist Christian proudly proclaims, “Jesus may have begun my salvation, but I finished it. I have kept the commandments and no longer sin. I have earned the right to call others to account for their behavior. How else will they learn?” While the false prophet says, “I'm a miracle worker, just like the Lord was. Who can doubt that I'm His.”
The artificially modest liberal says “I'm a good person and I've tried to live a good life. There are many roads to salvation and as long as we're sincere in what we believe, the Lord will understand and accept us.”
None of them realizes the road he's on leads to destruction.
But at the end of that narrow road stands a small gate on which the word Faith is inscribed. As we come alongside the few travelers on this road we can hear them softly singing,
“Just as I am, without one plea,
but that thy blood was shed for me,
and that thou bidst me come to thee,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.”
This is the road to Life.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.(Ephesians 2:8-9)
do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. Galatians 1:10
