Hi Rainy Dayz It's in Michigan. I'm glad you stopped by. Yes, I am an Artist. I hope you do post your ART.

ART comes in various forms, as you know . . . there is MUSIC, the LITERARY ARTS, DANCE, DESIGN, DRAMA, FILM, CINEMA . . . I've been a part of every area of the ARTS all of my life. Just about . . . I'm sure I've missed a few areas. Like Sculpting. I've only managed to do ceramics. That is much different from sculpting -- which I really want to do. But, all of the other areas that I have named I have participated in.

You're so right about the mountains being spiritual and I also find visiting them to be inspirational beyond what even words can describe. I wish I could have a artist/writer retreat here in the Adirondacks. They are so beautiful and peaceful, majestic and awesome no matter what season.

WHY don't more communities do this? I can see how it'd be a great therapy and learning experience for everyone involved.

What a fantastic article. I thought the last comments made by Pasqua in the article was interesting: "It's keeping the arts alive," said of the club. "It's addressing everyone's levels and it doesn't matter the level of expertise. It's our community's interests they're keeping alive."
I also agree with Jennifer, wouldn't it be great if more communities did this?

I agree that more people should, and I must say that there is nothing better (as you know) than for ARTISTS/WRITERS/MUSICIANS and CREATIVES of ALL GENRES to get together and share in the real meaning of what LIFE is all about.

If I wasn't so shy IRL (yeah, I am pretty shy when I'm not behind this computer) I'd try to set something like this up locally. I can see it being just amazing if everyone left their attitudes and superior complexes at the door (which is hard to assure that EVERYONE does that) and just CREATES.

Okie Dokie Jen . . . I take it that you've come across some "attitudes" and "superior complexes" ~ ahahahha! I know what you mean. Let's pretend like sometimes people have not so happy days. And that, sometimes, people just get besides themselves, (or sometimes above themselves ~ ahahah ~ I'm cracking myself up -- you'll have to excuse me).

But, really, on the SERIOUS SIDE -- without any "attitudes" and "superior complexes", these types of ART CLUBS and ART Programs work really well. Of course, it MUST BE ALL ABOUT THE ART and CREATING.

I think that there need to be "bouncers" at the door only when the Group/Club/Community begins to deal with anything that pushes the FOCUS of the ART aside. Then, of course, everyone takes their eyes off of the "sharing", "friendship", "Learning" and "FUN" that an artistic environment creates.

I think if you set something up like the GLADSTONE ART CLUB did where you are Jen that it would be really WONDERFUL! To watch it GROW and BLOSSOM, and SEE all of the FRIENDSHIPS that come from the connection would really warm your heart.

Then, of course, WE'D ALL travel to your ART CLUB -- you know that!

This sounds wonderful. Art is in the eye of the artist, and the heart, too. A group of artists can all sketch the same scene, but each will be different.

I love visiting artist's lofts in old warehouses when they have "open house". You can really get a feeling for their art by looking at the space they choose to do their art in. Seems like there is a sense of community between all the artists.

I haven't seen it first hand, but I've seen it online, so I figure it must exist offline as well. I'd LOVE to try this, but I don't know the first thing about organizing it... and of course there's the pressure to be an amazing artist if you are setting something like this up... and I'm far from amazing... more like... beginner... lol.

I don't think you'd all be able to travel to the capitol region of WI just for lil ole me. LOL

When I was in high school my art teacher was doing a mural in her kid's room... and I thought gosh how wonderful would that be to do for MY child when I have one? Well, here I am in our own home (owned not rented) and we can do as we wish with the walls... and here they are... un mural decorated. What's wrong with me? Well, I was afraid I'd mess them up.

*Sigh*

When a young long-haired androgynous male told me it is great to have among us a muse as beautiful as you, I thought he was nuts or on something or both . . . then I began seeing the 'muse' in all of us and the desire in the artistic creative expressionist we all are, some negate that quality and fight the flow and stay rigid to the conforms of society. So it goes, I now believe there is something very unique about us artistic types . . . Thank you for making this so vividly clear !

Hi Jen ~ I was doing something along these lines in years past on another level in a different way . . . but it was the same kind of environment. For both adults and children. Except it involved a variety of mediums. I do plan to get back to the face~to~face interaction. I can tell you how I organized the Associations, and how the ARTISTS were formed together, the offerings, the workshops, the classes, the tours, the Exhibitions . . . etc.

And ~ *cough* ~ YOU are an ARTIST.

Rene, I'm intrigued by your response. You've done something along these lines before, but in a different way. How so? Was it successful (I can't imagine it not being so with you coordinating it!) I would almost have to say I'd want anything I did to be for adults and children alike as well. So many thing leave the children out, and it's just as important - if not MORE SO - to include them in these activities.

I'm more of a follower than a leader. I can organize things online, but it's not such a big deal if it flops and no one comes online. That's not always the case offline... then there's that whole vibe that you may or may not connect well with the others. Still I think it'd be a lot of fun and a great learning experience to try something like this somewhere.

Perhaps I am an artist... but still, I maintain I'm more of a beginner than anything else. Basically because I get stuck in a certain medium and subject matter and I rarely explore beyond that. It limits my abilities to do that, though I never thought of it in that light all those years I worked mostly in pen and ink with animal figures.

Svetlana I looked at the paintings of Nikolai Roerich and loved them. I am an amateur. I wondered why I like them. Two things jumped out at me. One; he saw no need to embellish them. Their grandeur was adequate to reveal itself through simplicity.
But the one that made me smile was the one with the three mountain climbers descending. Even with them in the fore front and of comparatively good size, they were insignificant to the simple lines of the mighty mountain in the background.
The thought came to me of the battle cry "We conquered the mountain!"
What an overstatement :):)
