My poor kitty got out!

This morning, it's windy, and over cast, and it's been sprinkling. Nick leaves at 7:10, Raegan is out the door at 7:15, and I get up at 7:30. Today when Raegan left, she didn't shut the back door all the way, and the wind blew it wide open!

It was open for about 15 minutes before I found it (an estimate), but after shutting it, I could only find Kirese and Rajik, no Aliex! I tore through the house calling for him, before venturing outside. He was walking around right next to the house, and came inside without any issues.

Now, he's all riled up, tearing through the house, darting back and forth, meowing like mad. I think he liked his little taste of freedom, but I won't be inclined to be letting them out any time soon. Rae and I will talk about making sure that when she leaves, she pulls the door shut completely, and makes sure it's shut.

-sigh- I am glad my kitty was safe and sound.

i have one cat that we don't let out but once in awhile she does get out she runs under the house and doesn't come in untill it gets dark she doesn't like it out in the dark

I'm not happy with Rae for that one. I've been on those kids since before getting the kittens about how they need to make sure to pull the doors shut every day, and she was especially lethargic this morning so I'm sure she just didn't pull it shut - and it was very windy, but she's still getting a talking to when I get home. *mutters*

Oh I am so glad your kitty is safe and sound! When I lived in NY, and was moving to PA, my FIL came over to help us move. We had 3 cats, all INDOOR cats. Well he left the doors opened and told me - cat's should not be indoor cats... my cats got out, and I was devastated. I managed to get them all in, but how scary! Now I live right on a major road and they have gotten out a few times. They are sneaky creatures! {{HUGS}} to you!

kitties tend to not bother with sitting by the door looking to dart out - until they've gotten out. we'll have to keep an eye on Aliex for a bit and make sure he isn't trying to make a break for it for a few weeks, I'm sure. And sure thing Heather, what am I talking to her about? *grins*

good memory - that is the one Lisa, lol. It was warm all day yesterday so we had the house windows open quite a bit and he was camped on them all day long. I get the feeling he just couldn't resist when he saw that door wide open.
Yep, that's the one, Lisa. He's frisky- normally he's very mellow, but he does get into things more than the other two. He's been camping out on my lap most of the morning now. I think he enjoyed his explorations, but loved being back in the house.

I'm glad you found him and got him back in without issue! My son let out one of our cats a few weeks ago, and I had to chase him all over the yard to get him back in the house. Our other cat has to be chased to get her back inside, too, when she escapes. Some people say we should just let them go outside, but there is no way I would turn them lose on their own. We live on the edge of town and have a lot of wild animals around. They are both smallish, even though they are full grown. He's about the size of a normal full size female, and she's about the size of a 6 month old. They are both declawed, too.
I hope your kitty doesn't want to start going outside all the time now!
