She was lithe , tall, and beautiful
Dark hair cascading down her back
She was ever so majestic
but in her soul there was a lack
Of her own importance on this earth
She didn't know her purpose here
Thought her goal was to please everyone
She often shed a tear
By day she was a waitress
in a uniform prim and nice
A smile was what she needed
She had to pay that price
Then home to children waiting
And a husband often worn
Sometimes the thought occurred to her
Why was I ever born
It seemed no matter how hard she tried
to do everything there was to be done
no one was ever satisfied
the days were all humdrum
She had one little secret
that she kept just to herself
for at these times she was important
but she did it all in stealth
While everyone was sleeping
and the time flew swiftly by
She crept out of her home
to meet someone, always on the sly
There she stood on a pedestal
as the artist took up his brush
and looked at her form in adoration
his directions low and hushed
She was his favorite model
As she stood there tall and free
when he was ready he told her
Now please pose gracefully for me
Then with her lovely shoulders shining
with the black drape around her form
She released her fingers gripping it
and a Goddess there was born
Then with the daylights dawning
She dressed and hurried home
to begin the old routine again
her secret still unknown
