So I went to the school today...

I got there way later than I had wanted to because I overslept and then had to do some running around first, but I got there right before school let out.  For anyone who didnt see my post on Friday, I'm having a problem with my 1st grade daughters teacher, over a backpack of all things.

So I told the receptionist lady that I wanted to speak with the principal or a counselor. She said they werent in the office, they were making rounds to all the rooms before school let out. Fine. So I told her what the situation was. She went into another room, then another room, then another room...then came back with the student handbook. Apparently the fact that they need a clear/mesh backpack in the one THEY have, but its not in the one thats on the district website, nor was it on the list of supplies that was also on their district website. She told me that they sent the handbooks home the first or second week of school (my kids didnt get them, but whatever). I looked at her the same way she was looking at me (like an idiot), and said "Well, obviously I wouldn't wait until 2 weeks into the school year to buy them backpacks."  She didnt like that one lol.

I also told her about Micayla being bothered with questions about Tati and she asked who was doing it. I dont know any of the teachers names, and neither does my daughter so I said I don't know but you might want to make a note to anyone who teaches anything to my child. She didnt care for that answer either. Oh well.

Finally she told me that the teachers conference period was 9:15 to 10:15 and I could come talk to her then. I said I really didnt need to talk to the teacher, I wanted the backpack and to return the other one. So she went and got the teacher, who took both backpacks from Tatiana and brought them to me.

She looked shocked that I had sent her a letter that she didnt see. Funny though, she took it out of the same envelope as Tatianas absence excuse.  Maybe the ink was hiding on her??

I told her that she could keep her backpack, Tati will use the one I bought her. She said its a district policy. I said well then it should probably be on the district webpage. Not to mention the fact that Micaylas teacher hasnt said anything to her about it, and I saw at least 15 other kids who had regular backpacks just in the 20 minutes I was there. She said she wasnt sure why they werent "upholding the rules of the district".

I also told her not to talk to Micayla since shes not her teacher, and to tell the other teachers to leave her alone too. She says they only say something if they see her in passing in the hallway. Of course I specifically remember "Mom, some teacher came to my science/math/english class to tell me XXX about Tati". Doesnt sound like passing in the hallway to me. Either way though, I told her not to do it since Micayla isnt her mother. She then told me she has tried "many times" to get ahold of me and hasnt been able to. Funny how the nurse can call me at least twice a week, and the counselor has called me too...but she cant seem to get ahold of me with the same numbers??

I'm going in Wednesday to fill out some papers for a special ed evaluation for her, she just cant seem to remember stuff. The other kids are reading already but no matter how much we try to practice with her, she cant even remember all her ABC's! I know a lot of that was her school last year, they didnt even try to teach her. I know ADHD runs on her fathers side of the family, I might have her tested for it. She just cant seem to pay attention to stuff unless its cartoons or something lol.
