Looking for a Good Book? Here's What America's Reading...

I always look forward to the best seller lists from my local paper. (Don't worry...it's not the best seller list from the middle of nowere.) The list is printed in my paper, but it's compiled by the New York Times Best Seller Lists. I enjoy seeing the rare book I've read actually make it's way on the list and asking around at work to see what others are reading.

Here's this week's list.

Somehow, I'm having clitches and can't get that 25 stuck on the last one. Have you read any? Which ones are the really good ones...either based on your own experiences or reviews? (I rarely read hardbacks unless they're at the library for obvious reasons.)

I haven't read any of these. I haven't read anything in awhile. I pre-ordered the paperback version of Venetial Betrayal by Steve Berry, which is due out next month.

I haven't read any of these. I haven't read any books besides the ones that Gather has sent me for a while, though.

I try to read one classic a year. This year it is Gone With The Wind. It is so wonderful. I also read best sellers during the year. Thanks for your list.

Thanks for the list. I haven't read any either. I would like to read The Other Queen. I read The Other Boleyn Girl and enjoyed it. I've been so busy with work lately but I'm hoping to grab a couple of her books the next time I'm at the library.

I haven't read any of these either, but then I usually don't read bestsellers. Number one is the Oprah pick...but I have heard people on Gather say it's really good.

So since I haven't read any, I'll say that if I were going to read one, I'd either read the Dennis Lehane book (loved his "Gone Baby Gone") or "The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo," which has gotten a lot of buzz in the literary community. I actually had it in my hand the last time I was in Borders, and then put it back. Not sure why except I probably was already over my limit.

I just bought HEAT LIGHTNING, by John Sandford and DH has read it. He said it was very good. We read all books by John Sandford and his Prey series is excellent. The rest I never heard of.

I read The Story of Edgar Sawtelle over the summer. I loved it, loved it!

I'm reading The Given Day now, about 3/4 through. I've read most of Lehane's other books, and this book is nothing like them. This is historical fiction around the end of World War I. Great historical fiction but not a page turner.

THE GUERNSEY LITERARY AND POTATO PEEL PIE SOCIETY is in my to-read pile, so I can't give my own opinion. But my mother read it, and she says she had a hard time getting interested at first, but later it gets very good.

I have no desire to read THE OTHER QUEEN because I've read a couple of this author's other books on the kings and queens in England, and I thought they were very silly and uninteresting.

I saw the Edgar Sawtelle book the other day somewhere. Maybe Walmart? I read alittle bit about it when I was doing a review of the Oprah Book Club. It might be interesting. Right now I'm reading the latest S. King's.

I haven't read any of them. I wait and get my books by trading through paperbackswap.com or by trading them in at the half price store.
I haven't read in awhile either, life+work=busy me, but I am out of work due to a work injury, so I am going to have alot of time on my hands, I might have to get several of these out of the library.
