My youngest daughter amazes me with her ability to charm people regardless of race or age. Wherever we go, it's practically guaranteed that someone will approach us and comment on how adorable/cute/charming she is. Today is was almost ridiculous.

Today I took Little Miss to the grocery store with me. My husband and I always try to take one child at a time when we have to shop because 1) we get to spend one on one time with each child that way and 2) grocery shopping with 1 child is 100 times easier than grocery shopping with 4 kids. Don't worry about the math, just trust me.
We had scarcely made it in the door when we were stopped by a young woman who looked vaguely familiar. It turned out that she had been at our church's 10 anniversary celebration the night before. At the celebration, my three youngest had performed a dance to the song "Happy Day." Little Miss (who is almost 4) spent a lot of the time just grinning and jumping up and down but she did it with a great deal of charm because this 20 something young lady chatted and chatted with her about what a wonderful job she did and how adorable she was.
The store was packed and we wove up and down aisles. Little Miss told me stories as we went up and down the aisle and most of the people who were nearby smiled. She talks with her hands and it's pretty funny to watch such a young child making animated gestures to illustrate her tales. After a while the charm of sitting in the basket telling me stories began to wear thin. She was sitting with her little arms crossed and her lip stuck out when I coaxed, "Show we a happy smile." In response she lowered her brows in probably the cutest grumpy face on the planet. Immediately a lady I hadn't noticed began to laugh and comment to a fellow shopper, "What a doll!"
We ended up at the checkout counter that is about 6 feet away from the play car (the kind you ride for $.50) so I agreed to let her sit on it while we checked out. In a few minutes there were three lovely older ladies in church clothes standing by the car and watching her and laughing at her animated conversation with the plastic bear which is part of the car. They all gave us smiles as we walked out.
As we left my daughter leaned toward me and confided, "I'm a cutie pie" with perfect aplomb, obviously stating an established fact. Let us pray that she uses her powers for good.

My youngest is the same way, and it takes quite a while to get through the grocery store.
Enjoy it while it lasts.
