Fall and Hunting Season

So "Amanda, middle of nowhere" says it is time for another article so here goes nothing.   Don't seem to get many comments no matter which way I go.

It is Fall and along with Fall in our house comes Hunting Season.   Monday through Friday I have to get up at 6am to get kids up for school and get myself off to work.  

Saturday and Sunday, it is 5am so my husband can go hunting.   This morning he planned to get up at 5am for hunting but at 3:30am my phone rang, it is my Mother in Law.   Any call that time of the night usually means bad news.   And of course this is no different.   My Father In Law is headed back to the hospital.   He is dealing with a urinary tract infection, spiking fevers, hallucinating or dreams possibly.  

This time, the hospital decided to keep him and start him on IV antibiotics unstead of orally.  Thank God, maybe he will get better this time.

Do you hunt?

 If so, with a crossbow?

With a gun, or both?

I don't hunt but a lot in my family do. I think they all use guns. A lot of people around where I live hunt with both. My grandkids are always in the woods so I have to keep them in the yard.
I hope your father in law gets well. Calls in the night can be terrifying.

My hubby hunts with a bow and the gun. I won't see much of him for a while, at least until he gets the first deer. Last year he got his limit.

We're shooters, but not hunters. My daughter's FIL hunts with both guns and bows.

Nobody in my family hunts, which is probably good. I don't think I could cook and eat any wild animal, much less skin it...lol

Cheryl, we don't skin or process the meat. We have it done professionally. I tried it one year and the smell made me sick. I said never again.

I work up our deer when we get one. Roger skins it and I work it up. Have never hired anyone to do it for us. I used to hunt big time but I do much hunting anymore.

Hubby doesn't hunt, fish or like football...and I couldn't be happier. I don't like the taste of deer. My BIL almost always gets one and I eat it just to keep the family peace. Almost all of my male friends are hunters and a lot of female friends. Here, in the middle of nowhere, if you shoot a big deer, you might even get your picture on the front page of the local newspaper!

I don't hunt. I don't think anyone in my family has really hunted but then again we live in Bakersfield and if you want to hunt you have to travel a little ways.

My ex used to hunt, mainly deer. We always had some nice roasts around this time of year.

i hunt and fish . i took a large buck. my 14 year old son took a nice spik. i cleen and procsess my self.
