Twice a year our local library has a book sale.
Some of the books are library editions that have been withdrawn but many of them are donated by patrons.
I attend every year. Not only do I love books but my sister is one of the librarians.
Imagine my surprise to find this mint condition Stephen King 1st edition complete with mint condition dust cover. I got goosebumps.
My price for this rare book...$.25. Yes that is one quarter.
Explore your local library. You never know what you might find.

That is a rare find and a great find. I can see why you got goosebumps. ;)
Lynn I do also sell some online. I found 3 first edition Nora Roberts books...but this one is mine...mine mine.
I am more than a wee bit jealous. : )
Yep you never know what you are going to find.
Yep Nick
And good for you for supporting your local public library. Our public library doesn't have sales, but I provide plenty of support through my inability to return books on time. I think they're planning to expand our local branch just from the income they receive from my fines.
But even though our library doesn't do book sales, we do have a huge (150,000+ books), twice-yearly used-book sale that helps support an organization that provides (among other things) free crisis telephone counselling. We can find some great books at bargain prices, and help a very worthy cause at the same time.
Most of the proceeds from the library sale go to buy underprivledged kids winter items and craft supplies for the library.
and I love most of the King books....there are a few I just didn't like.
Ohh Ellie I would love to see that...is it really as spooky as it looks in the movie?
Jax we are a cheap lot in Iowa.
The Romeo (Michigan) Library has an ongoing sale twice a week that I used to go to often on Saturdays. But this year they changed the day, so I'll never be able to go. They also have a big sale every Labor Day weekend.
I went to Romeo's sales so often, I decided to volunteer once a week while I was unemployed. That way, I always got first pick of the latest books to come in. I work full time now, though.
I also check two other libraries' sales: Shelby Township (ongoing sale whenever the library is open) and Rochester (quarterly sales). I've found many great finds at these as well.
I came looking to see if you had a post that was about the debate tonight. :)
Lori, I'm glad you were able to find such a rare book. I do hope that someday libraries will get wise and sell some of their older books on Ebay at least.
