Raegan's New Bike!

After posting on Craigslist, I had a guy reply that he had an extra bike sitting at his house that he found on the side of the road a few years ago, banged up a bit. He thought it probably fell off a trailer. He'd fixed it up, and his cousin's kids use it when they are at his house.

Anyway, he offered it to us for free, as long as Raegan fit on it (she's too short for a full size adult bike- she can't keep mine upright, or I would have just given her that one). After finding out how to get to his place, Nick and I made the trip over. I try to make sure I have Nick with me whenever I know I'm dealing with a guy, just to be safe. I also try to make sure Nick is home when people are coming to the house to pick up items.

Let me just start out with- I am greatful that we found a bike, and I am VERY greatful I took Nick with me. I'm sure the guy was fine, but I just felt uneasy the entire time we were there. He lived out in the country, no nearby neighbors. A lot of run down outer buildings that had rotted out roofs, and a mini junk yard behind his barn. Either way, I was happy to have Nick with me.

The bike was shorter than what I would have been able to use, so we brought it home. Hopefully, it will fit Rae fine. We went and got a new chain and lock, too.

She's excited, and so am I. I'm really glad I was able to find one. One lady emailed back with a link to eBay bikes- which were mostly out of our price range, but then to add shipping, it was more than going to Walmart and just buying a new bike.

Since we can't afford that right now, I know we couldn't afford doing it through ebay. ;)

We left a message with the police department about writing up a report, hopefully the old bike will be found, if for no other reason than to make sure the kids who took it know that what they did is wrong.
