An American friend sent me this email yesterday. It was written by a middle-class American woman with a limited family income, who put four daughters through college at significant financial sacrifice to his family. Now, as Barrak Obama keeps reminding the American people, he too grew up in situation where the money was tight; and yet managed to put himself through good and expensive colleges, incuding Harvard. Obama vaguely attributes his good fortune to the "American dream", but this mother could be justified in doing a little digging. She didn't get many useful answers from watching Fox News, CNN and MSNBC, so she turned to Google for her research. In the course of her investigation, she came across some interesting revelations about Obama's connections - which had no direct relevance to Obama's source of funds - but were interesting nonetheless. Here is her email.
Around 1979 Obama started college at Occidental in California. He is very open about his two years at Occidental, he tried all kinds of drugs and was wasting his time but, even though he had a brilliant mind, did not apply himself to his studies. "Barry" (that was the name he used all his life) during this time had two roommates, Muhammad Hasan Chandoo and Wahid Hamid, both from Pakistan. During the summer of 1981, after his second year in college, he made a "round the world" trip. Stopping to see his mother in Indonesia, next Hyderabad in India, three weeks in Karachi, Pakistan where he stayed with his roommate's family, then off to Africa to visit his father's family. My question - Where did he get the money for this trip? Nether I, nor any one of my children would have had money for a trip like this when they where in college. When he came back he started school at ColumbiaUniversity in New York. It is at this time he wants everyone to call him Barack - not Barry. Do you know what the tuition is at Columbia? It's not cheap! to say the least. Where did he get money for tuition? Student Loans? Maybe. After Columbia , he went to Chicago to work as a Community Organizer for $12,000. a year. Why Chicago? Why not New York? He was already living in New York.
By "chance" he met Antoin "Tony" Rezko, born in Aleppo, Syria, and a real estate developer in Chicago. Rezko has been convicted of fraud and bribery this year. Rezko, was named "Entrepreneur of the Decade" by the Arab-American Business and Professional Association". About two years later, Obama entered HarvardLaw School. Do you have any idea what tuition is for Harvard Law School? Where did he get the money for Law School? More student loans? After Law school, he went back to Chicago. Rezko offered him a job, which he turned down. But, he did take a job with Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland. Guess what? They represented "Rezar" which is Rezko's firm. Rezko was one of Obama's first major financial contributors when he ran for office in Chicago. In 2003, Rezko threw an early fundraiser for Obama which Chicago Tribune reporter David Mendelland claims was instrumental in providing Obama with "seed money" for his U.S. Senate race. In 2005, Obama purchased a new home in Kenwoood District of Chicago for $1.65 million (less than asking price). With ALL those Student Loans - Where did he get the money for the property? On the same day Rezko's wife, Rita, purchased the adjoining empty lot for full price. The London Times reported that Nadhmi Auchi, an Iraqi-born Billionaire loaned Rezko $3.5 million three weeks before Obama's new home was purchased. Obama met Nadhmi Auchi many times with Rezko.
Now, we have Obama running for President. Valerie Jarrett, was Michele Obama's boss. She is now Obama's chief advisor and he does not make any major decisions without talking to her first. Where was Jarrett born? Ready for this? Shiraz, Iran! Do we see a pattern here? Or am I going crazy?
On May 10, 2008 The Times reported, Robert Malley, advisor to Obama, was "sacked" after the press found out he was having regular contacts with "Hamas", which controls Gaza and is connected with Iran. This past week, buried in the back part of the papers, Iraqi newspapers reported that during Obama's visit to Iraq, he asked their leaders to do nothing about the war until after he is elected, and he will "Take care of things".
Oh, and by the way, remember the college roommates that where born in Pakistan? They are in charge of all those "small" Internet campaign contribution for Obama. Where is that money coming from? The poor and middle class in this country? Or could it be from the Middle East?
And the final bit of news. On September 7, 2008, The Washington Times posted a verbal slip that was made on "This Week" with George Stephanapoulos. Obama, on talking about his religion said, "My Muslim faith". When questioned, "he said he made a mistake". Some mistake!

Now the BIG question: (If I found out all this information on my own), Why haven't all of our "intelligent" members of the press been reporting this?
Let me clarify that as someone who does not live in the USA and is not an American citizen, I have no axe to grind against either Obama or McCain - nor can I vouch for the veracity of any of the assertions made in the email. Be that as it may, it certainly does provide food for thought.

Since Obama was staying with family and friends the cost of the round the world trip would have been much less than it would have been if he had been staying in five star hotels.
There is nothing suspicious in any of the events being reported above. If you examine the writing you can tell from word selection and the use of quotes that the writer has a significant bias.
What crap. You received an email. You, in fact, don't know who wrote it. What you've got is a bunch of unverifiable bs.
It just shows how desperate the Republicans are, to keep bringing up this junk.
You will never convince the Obama nuts at Gather that he is not actually The Obamessiah who can walk on water and leap small buildings in a single bound and whose farts smell of perfume.
For example there are three documented proofs that his is or at various points in his life has been and has presented himself as a Muslim.
There is the school registration from Jakarta, Indonesia which lists his faith as Muslim. We could let that pass (even though there was a Christian, English language school for children of ex-pats just down the street where he could have been enrolled.
Then there is the world tour your e-mail mentioned during which he travelled on an Indonesian passport. To obtain an Indonesian passport that stated his religion as Muslim. One must be a born or naturalised Indonesian to obtain a passport. Mr. Obama, at the age of twenty, old enough by then to think for himself, declared himself as a Muslim.
(The fact that he had an Indonesian passport shows he had at the very least dual nationality. That alone disqualifies him from being President of the United States)
The rolls for Chicago law school show he enrolled himself as barry Soetoro and stated his religion as Muslim.
How much evidence do these people need before they will admit that Barak Hussein Obama (there's no "c" in Barak, I guess its appearance there is intended to have an Anglo-Saxonising effect) owes the American voters some answers.
But I will confidently predict that Barak Obama will never be President of the USA. Keep your eyes on the betting market, huge soms are being wagered not on McCain winning but on Obama not becoming president. The people operating in that market know something we do not.
Like you Firoze, I do not care much who is elected President but the election of Obama would be a disaster for America, a tragedy for democracy and a catastrophe for the world.
As for whether or not Obama is a Muslim, I think the uproar has more to do with the American people's total ignorance than one individual's personal religious beliefs. Being a Muslim does not, repeat: DOES NOT automatically make someone a terrorist, or someone with terrorist ties. So while Obama has indicated that while his father was at one time a Muslim and that he is not, the matter is really irrelevant. Islam has been tied to terrorist organizations because of cells of individuals who's radical interpretation of Islamic law have been especially prevalent in recent times. The majority of Muslims, in fact, interpret the laws outlined in the Koran to specifically forbid acts that we associate with terrorism, and focus instead on a culture in many ways more understanding and tolerant than many forms of Christianity.

It is indeed strange, bizarre to an observer from across the Atlantic, that if the media learned Sarah Palin wore the same knickers two days running they would tear her to shreds, and yet here and elsewhere I have seen people torn to shreds for simply making jokes or voicing doubts about Obama.
And they tell me this guy will UNITE America. I think not.

Obama represents the most loathsome and subversive element in America to date: those who hate their own country and seek to empower a man who will tear it apart, and rebuild it to THEIR liking. They hate liberty, capitalism, and our role as liberators -- as the Greatest Nation on earth. They see Obama's Muslim roots as a "plus," -- as a way to "endear" themselves to Islamic extremists who seek to destroy us. They see his mentors; Wright, Ayers, Davis, et al, as "freedom fighters" ... they see Obama as the Socialist who will finally give them the hand-out they've always dreamed of. They see him as the appeaser who will weaken this Country's strength and standing in the world, and thereby (to their mind) make us more "palatable" to our enemies. They see it all, and they LIKE it. In fact, they are salivating at the mere thought of being within an inch of claiming the White House for their own.
Danger, and evil, indeed.
