Okay. You already know we are part of the Raccoon relocation Program. Already relocated one, looking to unite his/her family with him/her. Problem is, they aren't willing participants in this endeavor.
I set the trap tonight. I always leave just a little dry cat food on my deck, right by the sliding glass doors, for 2 reasons. 1, they will come back and hopefully be caught, 2, they are great entertainment (from the safety of my house) for me and the kids. So tonight I set the trap and we are watching Rocky 2 eat his heart out. He could care less that we are 1 foot away, actually seems to enjoy the fact that we are there, going so far as to stick his nose right up against the glass. To smell us? Who knows?
So eventually he goes to the trap, pulls out some meat from outside the trap a few times. Glad that there is some left, because I'm not replenishing it in the dark. I don't dare go out anymore once the sun sets. Finally, he goes in! Pay dirt. But he doesn't step on the trip plate and backs himself out to freedom. Darn coon! He scampers off with his meat. He's back a few minutes later, and is back in the trap, now we are all watching with baited breath, and he actually trips the trap!!! Yes!! Now we are all dancing and high fiving each other!
Hubby came home, and as of now, he and the kids went to drop him off at the designated relocation program. One more to go!
