Mellow yellow,
Slicker in the rain
Yellow?
No, I said blue
Periwinkle blue
The blue on a
Peacock's breast blue!

Did you say green
Sour pickle green
Grass in the field
Green?
No, I said blue
Indigo blue
The blue of a
Siberian Iris
Reaching for the sky blue.

Did you say red?
Fire Engine red. Scream
in the night red?
NO, did you not hear
what I said? I said blue,
Periwinkle blue
Serenity by the
garden gate blue.
That's what
I said. Did you
not know, I love
Periwinkle Blue?

J, I never knew it till the other day that indigo, lavender blue and periwinkle blue are almost the same color...interchangeable one of the color charts said.
I'm featuring this in the Chat & Connections Garden Cafe.
I never thought about that....but that is really true in my garden. Throughout the spring and then summer and into fall, my gardens are a changing sea of blue.
I was thinking just now how this prose-poem (guess that's what this genre is called according to Magi) reminds me of you.
I'm so jealous of your photography....and your deftness with words.
Thank you for posting this to Hit Me With Your Best Shots
Between you and Magi, I'm going to start thinking what I write is actually worthy of being in print. Thanks.
Honestly, I did not know I had any deftness with words....these ideas just spill out. I think I spend too much time with 5 year olds.
You do know how to take the beauty in the world and put it in our hearts. This is a gift.
I'm laughing. Yesterday when I reread it, I laughed out loud because yes, I thought the same thing. Does remind you of Dr. Seus.
"Would you like it in a boat?
Would you like it with a goat?
NO, I do not like green eggs and ham.
Not in a boat, not with a goat,....."
I think I have been teaching young ones too long and reading too much Dr. Seus!
Thanks so much for posting this to

Did you say Blue?
Kudos for YOU!
Jan, I actually thought my other photo/essay might win....this one was done in a whimsical moment one night late. I had all these pictures of periwinkel blue and I thought "What the heck am I going to do with these?"
