Dan, just know you are not alone. I think between the economy, the war, job stress and the onset of the Holidays, everyone is feeling it unfortunately.

It's going to be ok Dan. Our stock has tanked again for the second time this year. It will come back up, it always does. Yes, we're all stressed at this time of year. I'm looking forward to '09 when the markets will come back strong again. Hey, oil came down again today! That's great news I think. We get this housing mess straightened out, we'll all be fine.

you are not alone, almost every day I am stressed to some extent, some days are worse than others, but for the most part, I rarely have a day that I am not stressed out, I think there is a lot due to the economy,
and others have said it as well, youve go tthe holiday coming up, you've go t the war, everything is taking a strain on us all.

I wish. Well, it's more that I got into it with a coworker/friend earlier. On top of that, the computers were down for a few hours so I couldn't get lab values on patients.

I'm sorry to hear you're stressed, it can be so draining. Remember to breathe; fresh air is good, think of some of your favorite things, watch a funny movie or show, getting out of the house helps me sometimes, I hope something here works for you Dan. If you find a good cure, please share it with us, I’m sure we all could use a confirmed method to reduce stress.

Stressed - Ok - I completely understand that you are stressed. We are all stressed! The economy is horrible. People that you stand in line with are just plane rude. I stressed out so bad that I developed shingles a few months back. Trust me - it isn't worth it. I really don't know what you do or very much about you but I assure you that there is nothing that can be solved by stressing out. The economy cannot be fixed by stress. A checkbook will not get anymore money in it by stress. A life will not be saved by stress.

My husband is a Crime Scene Investigator and yesterday he spent 4 hours with a dead guy. He didn't stress out about it. He did what he had to do and moved on.

Take a few deep breaths and move on!

Depending upon what field of medicine you choose, you may either need to learn to relieve stress or work under stress. It's about time to find out how you handle stress because it may detemine the direction you take in your profession.

My brother-in-law is a doctor. I remember he was permanently stressed while studying medicine.

As for the world, we're doing it tough downunder too. But the world has been through worse and it will come out of this cycle just like it does every other time.

Stress is the evidence of no hope, just back busting for nothing. We need to have a point to everything we do, as if we are doing it for something in the future. So for instance, we go on a trip to visit out kids and grandkids, so that the grandkids remember us and when they need us we will be available to them.

Ok Dan, as a Dr, you know that stress will KILL you. So take a deep breath in, blow it out & say hakuna matata, which means "no worries." Yep, I know it's easier said than done, but hey what can it hurt to try it? I learned a long time ago that life is way to short to sweat the small stuff. Is this coworker/friend even worth you getting stressed out over, if you stop & think about it? No, probably not! Hang in there. I'm sending some BIG HUGS your way and a few prayers can'thurt either. Keep your chin up!

Hi Dan,Don't you just hate it when people say all of these things,things will get better,tomorrow will be a better day,just snap out of it,go for a walk,read something funny,take a deep breath,keep your chin up,think of something nice,and on and on and on,If only it were that simple,people who say these things,don't really understand real depression,and if we could do the things that they say,we would,sometimes you need understanding and honesty,people that will tell you the truth,not say it will be better tomorrow,I hate it when people say that to me,when I am down,my husband says those things to me,and I could just slap him right up side of his head,hey this is the real world and things are tough,and some friends are just not worth having.
