The Ending of a Love that will Last Forever
©Robert Burnham
Inspired by Poet Lee's ‘To Love Again'
There's that knock on my door again
Seems you never see me cry enough
You don't want me but you play for keeps
Every time you're lonely for some love
You'll say you love me, you'll flash your smile
Confident in my love for you
You'll say "I'm sorry, look I've changed"
And for a moment I'll believe it's true
You prey on my weakness, the fact I do care
Is my heart really that easy to see
Having a forgiving spirit does not ease the pain
O why, O why - do you do this to me
This time I'm sorry, it is for you I'll cry
My knight's armor is no more
You may no longer cross my threshold
Lonely I'll remain, here on the other side of my door
