Another article that I am re-posting to demonstrate how the "handwriting was on the wall" for any impartial political observor in October of 2008.
It is a counterpart to the stream of ridiculous Gather articles by clueless right wingnuts about the election.
Not one Bush-apologist has written a thoughtful review how the Republicans lost the trust of American voters.

The latest Rasmussen Polls were released at noon today; I had an opportunity to look at them while stuck in the Charlotte airport.
Voters Now Trust Democrats More on All Ten Key Electoral Issues
With four weeks to the election, there are no winning issues for Republicans.
It is not surprising that most Americans, and all reasonable people, reject the leadership of Republicans on economic issues. Even when "investors" are polled as a separate population, they prefer Democrats.
It is encouraging to see that Americans prefer Democratic Party positions on the issues of taxes and National Security, also.
Despite the cheap shots of Sarah "I think I can read a newspaper" Palin, most Americans reject he reflexive saber-rattling of the AWOL in Chief.
According to Rasmussen, "The Democrats hold double-digit leads on government ethics and corruption, healthcare, social security and education."
Again, in despite of the cheap grandstanding of Caribou Barbie, Americans prefer the Democrats by nine percentage points on the subject of abortion.
Rasmussen notes that John McCain does better than his party on issues, but he now trails Obama on a majority of issues.
In the Presidential election contest, the trends have been consistent for the past month.
Daily Presidential Tracking Poll
According to Rasmussen, "Barack Obama (is) attracting 52% of the vote while John McCain earns 44%. This is the highest level of support ever recorded for Obama..."
Rasmussen notes that this poll marks " a remarkable twenty-five days in a row where the Democrat's support has never declined by even a single point."
One would not know this while listening to the self-congratulatory voices of the McSame-Pallid "Landslide" champions.
Can't wait for Election Day.

If the populace of this nation refused to be lied to any more, stood up for themselves instead of swallowing every canard on how we need to protect the filthy rich, we might stand a chance to put this country back in the shape it could be. But it won't be easy.
Here's hoping.
McPain and Pail-In are disposable Republicans. They're acting out a campaign but even they can't expect to win, and probably don't want to be handed the deficit, endless war, pollution, and shambles of education and security policies.
It is too early to gloat, Nippy.
The desperate mud-slinging, I believe, is related to the failure of the McCain campaign.
We have seen this in the last two electons, Sheryl.
This time, the movement toward the Democrats is occurring in many places (Colorado, Viginia, ) where there is no corrupt Republican administration (as in Ohio) to put in the fix.
The theme of the article, Christopher, is about the failure of the McCain campaign.
When writing about the new minority party, I always try to speak their language.
It is a sign of respect.
If McCain loses, as it appears he will do, these would be the reasons.
I learned about her ordeal rather recently, Ron.
McCain has done a good job of hiding his abandonment of her.
No way that he can avoid looking like a cad.
This is a very dark time in the history of our Republic, Liz.
All patriotic citizens were appalled at the glaring injustice of the 2000 election, Jennifer.
It was truly a foretaste of the law-breaking to come.
The five Supreme Court Justices who supported a decision to end the counting of votes really should be impeached.
That seems to be their intention, Cindy.
McCain admits that he is "weak" on the economy, so all he and Caribou Barbie can say is "Don't trust That One".
Some plan, some honesty, some statesmanship.
