A very long time ago, in the fast-changing world of politics, I published an article celebrating the members and achievements of the Bushwacker Truth Brigade.
One Hundred Points of Light in the Bushwacker Truth Brigade
I recently revisited some of the articles that were praised there, and found that they had not become stale nor irrelevant.
What was even more exciting was how thoroughly the lies, evasions, and brash chest-thumping of the Republican apologists have been repudiated by most Americans.
In response to a fine article by Diana Raabe, The Gonzales Scandal 301, one outspoken Shill for Republican criminality and fraud made the common observaton that the "scandal" was nothing but a bid for Democratic Party grandstanding, and that the Democrat-controlled Congress was held in very low esteem.
The scandal, despite the carelessness and the over-riding interest in torture-protection of the current Attorney General, is proceding toward indictments of four DOJ officials.
And, a significant increase in Democratic majorities in both houses of the next Congress will give the last laugh to those who believed the low ratings for the Congress would have any political significance.
Sean Mac wrote a excellent article, The Decline of a Super Power, the End of an Era: Part 2 which provided a wise and timely review of the decline of America power through the reckless and presumptious war-mongering of the Bush administration.
To this thoughtful article, the usual assortment of belligerant ranters added comments.
One master of the childish one-liner made an irrelevant reference to Clinton partying wth Monica. The same small mind added oter one-liners accusing the "left" of attacking America.
A purported "Captain" (must be a "ghost ship", as there is no mind there) vehemently denied that Bush lied, although a majority of Americans now recognize that the Bush manipulation of Cheney-created data was a "lie".
A tough guy from Connecticut, who poses as a New Yorker, wrote a laughabe defense of Bush economics. He suggests that Clinton budget surpluses were insignificant, and so were the unprecedented deficits of the Bush years.
One illogical commenter who takes his moniker from a destructive wind-storm added his "USA always the best" hosannas to the dismal failures of the Bush years.
For the past few years, the left has argued that the reckless war-mongering in Iraq was not reaching the leadership of Al-Queda who still live unmolested. The Left expressed concern about the precipitous loss of influence that the USA has experienced by having a thoughtless nitwit in he White House.
Voices from the Left pointed out that the costs of the Bush regime were staggering, in the form of enduring economic doldrums in which citizens of average income could not thrive.
Every warning of things that are, in fact, coming to pass, were disdained by shrill ranters of the Right who offered only obfuscation (It's Clinton's fault!), chest-thumping certainty (USA, USA), and crude insults (you hate America).
I have an enormous collection of absolute, boastful predictions by Rightwing Know-Nothings about the November election that I will share with delighted readers next month.

I think the gods are against the McCain/Palin repubs....kind of like Soddom and Gomora.
Aren't there any intelligent republicans besides my friend Lois?

Don'tcha just know!
You betcha!
Lets go field dress a moose (after we slaughter us a few Wolves from a helio-cpter).
Wee Haw!
Intelligence doesn't count for much if it is used to support filth.
palin put her over the edge by the way.
I believe that God is concerned with Truth and with Justice, that is not hard to see"
I agree, Stephanie.
It was, nevertheless, alarming to me to see the extent to which the Bush Regime won acceptance (for a time) with their big lies.
This is true, Carla.
Unfortunately, it is sometimes a very long time - like centuries.
Nippy, I appreciate this remark very much.
It is the contradictions in the Republican Party (small government/Patriot Act, balance of powers/Imperial President, individual rights/ culture war hysteria, fiscal restraint/ballooning deficits) that invite disdain and contempt.
This is true, Carla.
Unfortunately, it is sometimes a very long time - like centuries.
At which point, if they're conservatives, they'll conveniently forget that many of the values they live by, now shared by almost everyone, were fought for by liberals and opposed by conservatives not very long ago.
I assume you mean the election, or the wonderful articles I will publish containing the accumulated political "wisdom" of the Bushies.
If we enter a prolonged depression, Dave H., I think that we will see a level of social strife that we have not encountered previously.
Prosperity, or the hope of prosperity, has contained the anger and resentment about attends the illegitimate skewing of government to protect the rich that has occurred during the Bush years.
So very true, Aniko.
