When God created this earth He placed upon it many different living things. He filled the air, the seas and the land with a myriad of wonderful fauna and flora. I have no idea why He created most of these plants and creatures. I do know that some were to serve as food for others. Man was blessed with such things as apples, honey, salmon and chicken to delight his pallet as well as to keep him alive and healthy. Other plants were to serve as medicines for when he became ill from eating the wrong things, or from eating too much of the good things.
But God, in His wisdom and foresight, created a huge variety of totally incomprehensible plants and animals whose purpose and use are still unfathomable even to this day. Among these mysteries are things that bite or sting, things that make you itch when touched, things that make you throw up, things that stink to the high heaven, even things that will kill you.
Despite the complete repulsiveness of some of God's creations, believe it or not there are people who for some unknown reason delight in consuming them. These must be the very same people who like to jump out of airplanes and hope their parachute will open, and people who like to swim with sharks. Quite plainly God created some plants and animals that were clearly not meant to be consumed. Obviously it is more difficult to appreciate the good things in life without something ugly to contrast them with.
Among these nasty, ugly, obnoxious, repulsive and downright harmful plants and animals are oysters, clams, garlic, and certain peppers that are hot enough to burn out the lining of the average, normal person's stomach and stunt their growth. It is obvious even to the casual observer that the people who consume these abominations are, on average, three inches shorter than normal people and live an average of four years less.
There are several additional unsavory plants and creatures that are shunned by all sensible people. Please list any that you are aware of below. Your input is most appreciated.

By the way, delimiting the nasty habits, culinary and otherwise, of the "other" is in fact the same process as differentiating oneself and others into political parties. Just thought I'd mention it.
