Suicide bombers have struck near two Shia mosques in Baghdad, killing 20 people and wounding another 25, Iraqi security officials said.
The attacks came as worshippers left mosques after prayers celebrating Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan.
Eight people died in a suicide bombing in the Zafaraniya district, while 12 died in a suicide bombing in the Baghdad al-Jadida district.
Separately, six people were killed in an ambush north of Baghdad, police say.
A minibus driver, three women and two five-year-old children were all shot dead near Baquba in Diyala province.
The victims were all Sunnis in an area where the Shia Mehdi Army has strong support, says the BBC's Hugh Sykes in Baghdad.
Government officials had warned that militants might launch attacks around the time of Ramadan, one of the most important festivals in the Muslim calendar.
In the Baghdad district of Zafaraniya, the suicide bomber drove his explosives-filled car into an Iraq military armoured vehicle at a checkpoint near a mosque, killing eight and injuring 10.
One witness told the Associated Press news agency that he saw a white car speed toward the mosque and then heard a huge explosion that sparked a fire and heavy smoke.
Ammar Hashim, 25, rushed to the site and saw "dead and burned bodies and many injured people crying out in pain".
"Pools of blood and the smell of burned flesh was everywhere and I saw a man of about 70 bleeding and lying on the ground from injuries," he said.
A Reuters cameraman at the scene described seeing a leg and other body parts more than 100m (328ft) from the centre of the blast.
In Baghdad al-Jadida, the suicide bomber struck as worshippers were leaving a nearby mosque, killing 12 and injuring 15.

Its not up to Iraq to repair the infrastructure America destroyed and nothing has been rebuilt to help the Iraqi people, they have no safe drinking water, no sewage treatment, and no electricity.
Bush may want to throw out the Geneva convention that America designed and signed to it and playing hypocrite does not make law.
Their is over 1.5 million innocent Iraqi people murdered so Bush could try and steal their "sea of oil."
You do not have facts Cathi you have pentagon reports and they are not truth they are propaganda.
The majority of troops in Iraq do not want to be there and keep saying end it.
As far as Al Qaeda goes they are leaving Iraq and never were in Iraq until Bush drew them there. Hussein did not deal with any terrorist groups.

The Democrats have enough votes in Congress to block anything they don't like and enough votes in the Senate to pass anything they wish.

Destroying infrastructure is banned. Whatever damage to infrastructure occurs is to be rebuilt by the invading country. Bush has not put one penny into rebuilding an infrastructure he purposely destroyed and as of now the Iraqi people have no electricity, no sewage treatment, no safe drinking water. Bush lies about rebuilding the country he destroyed today just like when he did 5 years ago.
The only ally he had to help with the destruction was Britain thinking they would get juicy contracts by supporting this murdering bum and they were used as bad as anyone else that has ever supported this criminal. The rest of his coalition was made up of nothing but a handful of peacekeepers from the rest of the so called coalition and they took out their troops as soon as the first loss occurred.
The media reports what it is told to report including FOX and whatever draws the biggest monetary reward for them and the only reason this murder goes on in Iraq unreported is because they have sidelined the media and public with this criminal bailout scheme.
These services that report troop and civilian deaths are independent and have nothing to gain by lying.

Al Qaeda was not in Iraq until Bush brought them there. Hussein had no weapons to threaten his neighbors with and certainly had none that he could loose on America with no notice as the inspectors proved over and over and is proven today again by the fact no WMD has been found in Iraq and Iraq did not cause 9/11 as the propaganda says it did.
The "sea of oil" is the only reason we are there as testified by Wolfowitz in congressional hearings.
I never said any big battle took place that killed this number of people and if you think the people that are keeping track of the deaths and money are lying contact them. I am not your answer to the propaganda you want to listen to.
