Power, Faith, and Fantasy written by Michael Oren chronologically reviews the important, prominent events and people involved with the evolution of American ideology with regards to the Middle East.
I realize that this book was published over a year ago, but my understanding of the Middle East and the role America has played throughout the years in shaping the culture and economy of this region has been so influenced by the voluminous amount of information and the way it is presented, I just had to encourage as many readers out there to pick it up.
Michael Oren has taken a subject that many would write off as holy-war material and presented it in a way that forces you negotiate with your own enemies, reevaulate your own power and influence, examine your own intolerance. The literature collides art, music, faith, and power to highlight the misunderstandings of the time.
Feeling a sense of helplessness, I read on as I anticipated the impending loss of life with each righteous decision made as a result of empowered ideology.
This is a magnificent, intimidating amount of knowledge and I can only compare Oren with Jared Diamond and David Halberstam in regards to the importance of their work.
