Autumn Color Update - Photoessay

I took these pictures about 7:00pm, at what we call "Golden Time".  The sun is setting and casts a golden glow on the east shore.

Color is spreading daily, little by little,  lighting up the trees.

Oaks, maples, pines, birch all bring their own colors to the portrait.

 The west shore has its own colors, lights and shadows. 

On the south side of the lake the trees are changing slowly.

Red, orange, gold, yellow, brown and green....all colors and shades are needed to make the picture complete.

Okay, where is this? It's beautiful! I am so ready for fall and where I am in Los Angeles, it will take a little while to see the leaves turn. I used to go to New York City in autumn to enjoy the fall and walk through Central Park. I haven't been in a very long time and I miss it so much!

It is beautiful here in all seasons. Skidway Lake is in northern Michigan. No city, town or even a village. Just three stores down the road, two churches, nice neighbors and lots of natural beauty!

Your photos are lovely! Southern California is home, not much seasonal change there. Last year I purchased some knitting yarn, I could not explain why the colors appealed to me until I looked up at a group of autumn trees and realized that the yarn colors mimicked those trees in afternoon light.

You made me charge my batteries, then take my camera outside with a sharp eye, hoping, yearning to capture the beauty around me. Have you thought of creating a book? I bet the gift stores in the area would jump at the chance to sell them. I'd buy one online. Then I'd tell everyone that Jan took these pictures. And yes, I know her.
