Have you ever had a "theme song" for your relationship with a significant other? If so what song, and what's the story behind it? That's the question I pose for you to ponder this week, as we dip into the recent program archives for our CD discussion.
Discs reviewed include the latest from Sigur Ros, "Med Sud I Eyrum Vid Spilum Endalaust" (which I've been practicing how to say just right), David Vandervelde's "Waiting for the Sunrise" and Silver Jews' "Lookout Mountain, Lookout Sea." Mark Wheat and David Campbell were my guests. Go ahead, listen online.

Donny and Marie Osmond had some great songs back then too, they were sister and brother though, maybe it was 1974, Those were the days, The 1970's were good years..I remember those days after school.....with her..
Yep, it's a healthy relationship.
1. Wonderful Tonight by Clapton was the song my college girlfriend and I danced to the first time and was the start of a four-year relationship of ups and downs, struggles, each of losing our mother the same year (college sophomores), incredible personal growth...but with an unhappy ending when I left her in Connecticut after losing my father. She looked wonderful every night and, last I talked with her, still does.
2. All Your Faithless Loyalties - Two Gallants was the song for a recent relationship that was good when together, as we forgot the world around us, but when apart, it was nothing but faithlessness on her part, constantly looking for something better around the corner.
3. Start a War - The National was the last with a woman who I was so very much attached to, but wronged on two occasions. She was not faultless either and, in refusing to acknowledge that, walked away and started that war...
Everytime I hear it now, I get little goosebumps. At the time I was dating this guy who was really into Dave Matthews Band and thats pretty much all he listend to. He had bought the new cd with that song on it and he played it for me. Everytime it played when we were together, he'd hold me tight :)
Another song is "Tight T-Shirt." I wish I knew who it was by, but anyways my friend Alex and I go crazy everytime we hear that song. Its so funny and so catchy we have to sing it out loud!
If anyone knows who sings this song, please let me know. I need it! :)
"come a little bit closer, hear what I have to say"
I am a mumbler... especially after a long night of staying warm with whiskey.
As for a theme song...You can't go wrong with Little Milton's classic soul song, "We're Gonna Make It"
...was our wedding song. it came out on heart of a champion the year we got married and we learned to tango just for it. the accordion solo has just the right amount of schmaltz for me and she thinks it's "verrrry romantic."
spectacular e.p. too!
On another note though, the comment on this week's Musicheads about how Sigur Ros could do all the music for IMax films reminded me of one of the best ideas I've ever had -- bring the epic Planet Earth series to IMax! (and of course have Sigur Ros do the music... actually, hearing Hoppipolla in that one Planet Earth video is what made me fall in love with both Sigur Ros and Planet Earth!)
reminds me of all the wonderful things i have with my boyfriend now. he is the best thing that has ever happend in my life and it really does feel like a first time with him every day!
when i met katie, my wife. i was currently dating someone named Kate. we met at a Jimmy eat world. concert and hit it off instantly. when i got home i was talking to some friends online and i said "im so konfused" intentionaly spelling it with a "k" due to the whole katie and kate thing. i was ammused by my clever play on spelling and laughed to myself. we started dating a month or so later. and one of my friends showed me a song
"konstantine" by something corperate
there is a line in the song "this is because i can spell confusion with a "k" and i can like it"
and another "this is to jimmy eat world and those nights in my car"
we were listening to this song for the first time and we couldent belive it. there are other parallels also but those are the most prominent.
when we were planning our wedding this past summer. the DJ asked what song we wanted to be our first dance to be to. the responce was instant and in unison.
