Todays One Hit Wonder formed in 1983 and after sending out demos to to only their friends, one of those friends would play their demo for David Lee Roth singer at the time for Van Halen who apparently enjoyed it. Unsigned, they would open for Van Halen, on their 1984 Tour and getting signed later that year. Their Album titled "Sign in Please" would contain their only hit, charting at #29 on Billboards 100.

That song? "Turn Up the Radio" by Autograph.

The band would remain together until reportedly sometime in 1989. They would release a total of 6 albums during their years together.

I heard this song a few days ago and I did "Turn up the Radio".

It was released in 1985 on their Thats The Stuff album. Not sure if the song made the charts but it does get a little air play on WDVE in Pittsburgh.

I have to admit I liked a few of Pearl Jams tunes and I know I am about to get crucified but I never liked Nirvana in the least.

I blame Nirvana also. So many of my friends liked them, but I never did. That's when I knew I was old and no longer hip. Ha! I remember the band name Autograph, but nothing leaps to mind when I try to remember their music.

Autograph was NOT a OHW, sorry, they had a few other songs as well, though not quite so popular, but Hair Nation on Sirius plays them a lot. The guy from Autograph also wrote the intro to 7th Heaven...

Sorry Tink but you would be wrong. Autograph while having some decent tunes never had an album to match the success of "Blondes in Black Cars" which peaked at 38 and had the hit "Turn up the radio". Of their other albums only one other would chart and the was the album "Loud and Clear" which peaked at #109.

When you say a band was a one hit wonder, Individual musicians in the band and their solo careers cant be counted as hits of the band.
