Yesterday afternoon, my husband and I started painting our three sons' room. I have always been a firm believer that children need a fun and functional space that is entirely their own and as such, I've always gone a bit over top on decorating my children's rooms. Custom murals, bright colors, etc. We moved into this house the end of July and I feel badly that I'm just now getting around to settling us in, but it's been a hectic few months for my family. So we started yesterday.
After our move I got rid of four large boxes full of toys (yipee!) so we cleaned up what was left and began the painting. One wall we have painted bright lime green. It is so cool! I love it! On either side of that wall is a red wall and a dark blue wall. Opposite is an orange wall. It sounds like a bit much, but it is colorful and fun. The kids are loving what we have done so far.
I also wanted a more effective system for organizing toys so we headed out to IKEA last night and picked up three steel shelves and blue and red buckets to fit on them. After we finish painting today, we'll put those together and put the room in order, something it's been desperately pleading for since we moved in.
I took before photos and I'll take after ones so watch for the amazing transformation!

As you know, we just bought our first home and I would like to do paint too... but right now we're just going with white. Boring 'ol white.
I can't wait to see your rooms when they are done! Don't forget to post your articles/pictures to my 'Before & After' group, ok?
Thanks!
