I love old stores Renda. I'm not surprised I recognize some of the things. People used to keep things for many years. They didn't buy new or updated very often.

I do too. You're right, of course, that people didn't "update" things like we do now. There was very little "thrown out" and replaced with newer things. When my paternal grandparents passed, they had so many old relics ~ of course, with so many children things got distributed. I just hope those things are kept and passed down to great grandchildren, etc.

Oh my, this looks like the General Store and Post Office right up the street from me. It had a pot-bellied stove too and when you would go in to get the mail (long ago...you have to remember, all these old New England cranberry growers would be sitting around it telling stories). In the back was the telephone operator....yes, we had party lines....and she knew all the gossip in town which she shared around the stove.
