How important should ratings be to the television industry? Should ads be based on how many people are watching or on how many people are buying the product? We all know people are using their remote to avoid the commercials.
I know that I'm guilty of using the remote to avoid the ads. Lets all admit we have walked out of the room to avoid an annoying ad or to get a drink. I'm certain I'm not going to change this habit now. Some ads are so dull that I have to watch them more than once on Spotwinner. I have missed ads on Reward TV that have been on 100's and 100's of times.
I know ads pay to keep network shows on the air. They all can't be eye catching and entertaining. I'm not expecting to love commercials. Any ideas or thoughts on the subject would be great. Lets talk about commercials this week.

Since the earliest TV shows they would blatanly advertise whatever during the shows. It's what makes the TV industry possible. How else can the actors get paid 1 mil + per episode?
Edna mentioned TIVO and I know many people now use it a lot. My husband avoids commercials.
Golds is right the same commercial does run more than once during the big breaks for costly shows and that is usually when so many people walk out of the room.
Thanks everyone for posting.
