Anyway, we'll start with an update of the apartment. For those of you who missed it, and for those of you who need a reminder, this was the article with how it looked when we first moved in.
Now, these pictures are about a week or two old, I'll warn you ahead of time, and it was right after we had moved all the furniture and the rest of the boxes in, so the clutter that was there is, for the most part, cleared up and unpacked now. :)
I'll try to conduct this tour room by room in the same order as the last one. It'll make it easier to be able to see the improvements. :)
Alright, so without further ado, come on in!

This is the new and improved main room. Not much to see here, really, because this is the room we're working on at the moment. But we do have some nice store bought drapes. I was going to make them, but Jake wanted fancy ones since this is the first room peope will see and I've never made drapes before, so fancy is a bit beyond me at this moment.

And you remember that ugly plate that covered the wall? Quite an eye sore. Well, I put one of my great aunt's paintings up over it. It's a lot easier to look at.

And we do have a couch in there. Since this is our newest piece of furniture (only a couple of years old), I decided to work the entire room around the colors on this, thus the color scheme is more of a beige.

This chair in the corner, though, is really old and a very ugly yellow, so I'm going to reappolster it a nice beige color. I've already got the fabric, I just have to figure out hot to do it...lol.

And I'm sure you've already noticed the state of the floors. The painting is done, so we moved on to sanding the floors, but they've got some weird black glue stuff that doesn't come off with the sander, so we've had to find alternative methods to getting it up.

Right this way to the left a bit and we'll go check out the bedroom. Again, don't mind the clutter. It's cleared away now, but this was right after we'd moved the furniture and the last of the boxes in.

Our closet is now nicely filled with whatever clothes we thought we would need. The rest of our winter clothes and such are still packed away, though, until we need them.

And look, we've got a bed! It's quite amazing...lol. And that lump in it is my bum sleeping while I get ready to run off to school.

Over there? Why, yes, that is indeed a bookshelf on top of our dressor. Because the apartment's so small and we've got one room that can't be used while we work on it, we've been working on saving room elsewhere. It's actually quite steady up there. No risk of it falling unless it's pushed.

Right beside it, to the right, is the desk Papa made years and years ago. That's where we house our blankets and our tv. The stand on top of that, which is pretty bare in this picture, is where we put all of our game consoles and such.

In this right hand corner is my little nook. The desk on the left was left behind by the previous tenant, which is weird because it looks brand new. Oh well. I don't mind. It's free for us and it's really a rather good desk. That's where my laptop goes for now, but when we get Internet Jake's computer will probably go there instead. On the left, that little yellow thing, is my sewing desk. It's really come in handy so far.

I also bought us corkboard to keep things organized. We've got one folder for bills that need to be paid and one folder for bills already paid. It also has places for our batteries (charged and not charged), a plastic bag to collect can tops (I figured I'd send them to Tiffy when we get enough...maybe she can use them), and any other important things we need to remember. It's also handy for leaving each other messages.

Hurry, hurry, on to the kitchen! Watch your step, it's a little more crowded than last time. Here's the kitchen table. We originally thought there wouldn't be room for it here, but it seems to fit pretty nicely. I'm planning on making a full-length table cloth to hang down almost to the floor so that we can use under the table for small storage without it being a complete eyesore.

These curtains here are the first pair of curtains I've ever made. I absolutely fell in love with the fabric and it matches the apple dishes we have, so it works.

To liven things up a little bit more, I also bought fake flowers. I think it's a nice little touch that makes the kitchen a bit warmer.

Just to the right of the sink are our cooking supples. I bought the canisters and the coffee pot from the salvation army for really cheap; Jake's mom gave us the knife set, the can opener, and the toaster; and Jake bought the blender. Next thing we're saving up for is a microwave because we really need one, but we don't have the money just yet for a decent one.

Under the sink on the right side we decided to store my frying pans and Jake's painting supplies. probably not a great combination, but that's the way it ended up working out.

On the left under the sink is all of our cooking junk. I kind of tried to organize it, but, in the end, it all went in the way it would fit the best...lol.

Oh, and I found out that we have a silverware drawer! May not seem too exciting to you, but I didn't know we had one and I couldn't find one, so I'm definitely happy to know that we do indeed have one.

Our kitchen cabinets are nicely filled with things now, too!

There's been a big change in this hallway here that leads to the bathroom. First off, the shelves are actually stocked with food!

And so is the freezer...

And also the fridge. Even better, I got all this food for probably about $150 and that will last us for the month and them some (I actually did the shopping about 2.5-3 weeks ago and we haven't even eaten through 1/4 of it yet).

Because there's so little storage in the kitchen and the bathroom themselves, we decided to expand storage into this little hallway. It doesn't take up too much space and gives us the shelves we need. We got this cute little metal stand at Family Dollar for probably about $20.

Just under that, we have a 3 drawer plastic storage container that we bought for probably $12 at Family Dollar, too, and that houses the rest of our kitchen junk.
In the top drawer is the measuring cups and the other utensils that were too long for the silverware drawer.

The middle drawer are our oven mits, dish towels, flashlights, and napkins (they were 25 cents each at Salvation Army and they match!) for fancy company.

The very bottom is filled with the tops of my pans. They're glass and I'm afraid they would break if they were in with the others.

Not much at all has changed in the bathroom. I bought a cute little bunny holder thing for the back of the toiler.

Since if water drips out of the tub it usually ends up leaking through to the apartment below us, I figured I'd get a shower mat. Well, that and it was on sale for $8 at KMart. :D

And don't forget to notice ya'll that, thanks to Stacy at the local hair place, I got my hair cut short and had it streaked blonde and chestnut.

Thanks for visiting me and taking this second tour! And I know you're dying to know so, yes, I got a job. I'm selling coupons for Olan Mills making $8 an hour. It's hard and you've gotta be very persuasive to actually get people to buy, but I'm working on it. I'm also working on applying to KMart today after classes. :)

Blessings always...
Looks like the apartment is coming along nice!
Congrats on the new place and enjoy working with it to make it "home"!!!!
And the apartment is really shaping up! You have done a wonderful job so far!
have a great year! Salud
I can't wait 'til the day I get a place of my own... partly because I know I'll have a lot of fun organizing and decorating it! =)
Best of luck with everything!
LOOKS LIKE YOU'RE HAVING FUN WITH THE DECORATING
I know that the chair is kind of ugly, but it really would be a shame to reupholster it. That is the chair I was sitting in the first day I brought you home from the hospital, and we had our first pictures taken. I know it's dorky, but it has sentimental meaning for me - I know, I'm just a big dork anyway. 8-P
