My Rattie Butters Passed Away

My rattie Butters passed away this morning. He was never sick and seemed fine right before that and was very active last night. He was about 1 and a half years old and a sweetie. He sure did love his food, lol!

I have 2 other rats Stan and Kyle. My sister gave them to me as a gift when they were a couple months old, after my girl rattie died unexpectedly during a surgical procedure.

RIP sweet Butters, you will be greatly missed.

Please tell me that a pet rat looks and acts different than the wild rats running around in the woods and try to eat our bird seed .

I'm so sorry that you lost your pet rat......I've never had one as a pet......guess it would be interesting, though! It's always soooo difficult to lose a beloved pet.

Wendy, domestic rats are far different than wild rats, it's a shame they are so misunderstood. They are sweet little guys and love to be held.

Sorry to hear of your loss.

I had pet rats for years. Most people think that's icky, but those of us who know (and love) these highly intelligent critters can tell you that they certainly can become very beloved.

My last one, Spot, a blonde-hooded rat with a single spot on his back (hence the name) lived to be four. He loved to sit on my shoulder as I went about the housework, laundry, etc. He would come when called and absolutely adored vanilla wafers. I was really heartbroken when he died.
