The first week of August, I told everyone about a contest to win windows for lighthouses. I actually wrote an article asking everyone to cast a vote for my local lighthouse, the Grand Traverse Point Lighthouse, of Michigan.
Keeper McCormick, his assistants, and Stephanie Staley (the executive Driector) all combined their efforts to make a youtube video showing why we need to win. Complete with cheesy poetry.
Everyone was pushing for us. We really need windows!
There were a lot of votes. Nearly Half a million, according to Jeld Wen.
Guess what?
I'm thrilled to report that we have made into the FINAL THREE!
Wooot! Wooot! Woot!
Thank you Gather friends for all your help!
I knew I could count on you!
This is what Jen Weld had to say:
(It can also be found by clicking on the Jeld Wen link above)
"You've told us which lighthouses to consider most closely in this year's JELD-WEN's Reliable Lighthouse Restoration Initiative. After nearly hafl a million people participated in our opinion poll, nearly 70 percent voted for these three lighthouses, in alphabetical order:
Bodie Island Light Station — Cape Hatteras National Seashore, N.C.
Grand Traverse Lighthouse — Leelanau State Park, Mich.
New Canal Lighthouse — New Orleans, La.
Thank you for helping focus the final phase of the search as we closely evaluate their needs, plans, timing, and requirements to determine which of these three lighthouses wins custom-made JELD-WEN windows and doors. Congratulations and best wishes to all 50 nominees and the 12 finalists."

That should have said that I am grateful to Jeld Wen...
Or that, I am really thankful that Jeld Wen held the contest.
Either or, but not some of both.
I'm not even sure how we will know. They aren't really specific in the details on the site.
I'm going to keep checking, but I offer no promises. I'll let ya know if I find out anything. I mail have to email them...?
