A Wedding

Last weekend my niece was married in a beautiful little catholic church in the delta.  The building was old with wonderful stained glass windows. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The priest is Irish and made us laugh throughout the ceremony.   He had just returned from Ireland, where he performed a wedding.

I am not catholic, but I want to go back to this church.  It was so inviting and fun. 

 

 

 

The priest even had his dog by his side in the church.  He sat up on the altar with him, and came to greet everyone during communion. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I wish I had taken more pictures of the inside of the church, but the opportunity did not present itself.   It is set next to the Sacramento River.  I hope to return again soon.

That sounds like a really special wedding.

(The last Catholic wedding I attended was completely the opposite, and I was glad I was not raised Catholic!)

You can tell from the vestments even in the article's thumbnail it was either an Anglican or Roman wedding. The only time I've seen a dog in the sanctuary was guiding I blind priest I knew. I'm sure this dog will be fondly remembered as a unique part of their ceremony. That is a lovely stained glass window. Is the church Mission style?

Congratulations to the lucky and lovely bride - great shots by the way - but What Delta? I love weddings in old cathedrals and with priests - many of my dear friends are men of the cloth. Thanks for showing us these pictures - I felt as if I were there!! Salud
