I started watching the debate online..the lag time made it sort of animated...so I switched to TV..but the live blurbs running across the bottom were distracting to me as the traveled up and disbursed...this part might have made sense IF these blurbs were potential questions that the MOD might have pulled from...
any way....I finished up online...
and although neither really impressed me...I did get a little out of it.. info wise... if either take office...which is my problem...I am not solid behind either....it still looks like and american crap shoot...
It reminded me much of a phrase I used much in my line of work in the past( I used to run bakeries) It is not the revelance of the issues...to me they are pretty clear....
I used to say to my fellow workers( specially cake decorators) everyone has their own style....and people may choose based on a style, who makes their cake....but in the end the judgement of who is the better decorator...stems not so much what you can do, but what you can fix when fate plays a hand...( you know...customer drops cake in parking lot..... ect...) how quickly can you defuse a problem situation and bring back confidence..that it'll be okay....or as I called it..."watch me pull a rabbit outta my hat...routine"
where sometimes the fix was better than the plan...because it instilled trust in me by my fellow workers and my customers....
I am not vizualizing any hats here.....I am seeing salmon swimming up stream...

Lou, I drove out to dad's place to watch the debate with him and my nephew--soon leaving for boot camp.
Jon had no interest in watching the debate, until he saw that that was exactly what we were going to do. (We made him turn off his "boy" movie, a shoot'em up, gung ho kind of thing--guess he's prepping for being shot at...) But, when they left the economic issues talk, and moved into war, international relations dialog and international decisions, he started yelling at the TV, just like dad and I.
I thought the class act on that stage was Obama. He and Michelle walked over to McCain to shake hands afterwards. There were about 20 instances where Obama could have "fired up" on McCain and chewed him down, but he didn't do it. I think Obama controlled it pretty well. He portrayed dignity.
Listening to McCain was like talking to a senior citizen. The country may be proud of this vet, and the ordeals he went through (and I am not disrespecting that.) But, what occurs to me is that it is time to leave the "glory days" stories behind, America wants to know what we will be doing in the future. NOT what they've done in the past. Not how many visits you've had to war torn countries.
And McCain lied during the debate about the Kissinger quote. He was called out on that immediately following the debate on the news boards. Kissinger said Yes to "meeting without conditions."
"You're wrong, John." Was my favorite line in the debate.
Lou, I feel good about this guy. I feel really, really good about our next president.
And I can't wait for the Biden/Palin debate. THAT will be the real clincher.
Love you girl. Off to move a friends piano. Then to the farmer's market. Then home to make pickles, I think.
Have a super fantabulous day.
Tomorow I'm at the seniors, hopefully making glass stuff.
Wilka
For pet pigs of course.
and as I listened today to a co worker....who works two jobs...seven days a week....has two cars..both in disrepair right now...and lives alone...
I stopped myself from asking her if she had managed to listen to the debates....but I wondered....does either one of these candidates have a clue, really a clue to the absolute care they need to take of a person such as her....
