  I know everyone is thinking Christmas and rightly so, It will be here before you know it.      November 17-24th is collection week for Operation Christmas Child.     ""Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God's love. Since 1993, more than 61 million shoe boxes have been packed, shipped, and delivered across the globe. People of all ages can be involved in this simple, hands-on missions project while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas-Jesus Christ."   Go to the site look at the video, look at these kids, some of these kids never get any gifts, They face hardships everyday that we don't even realize and yet as a kid,  they  do.   My family has packed Shoe boxes for 20 years, Each boy does at least 5 a year, if not more that they save for and make. They write letters and put pictures in it and all. We try to put in toothpaste and tooth brushes, some school supplies and crayons and some simple toys that fit in the shoe box. My boys enjoy it so much, they volunteer to load the trucks in the collection center.   We received one letter from a 13 year old boy  in Bosnia He wanted to thank us for the gift, he was thrilled with it. It was he said  the first gift he received in a long time.  He was sad as one brother had just died and the other lost his leg from stepping on a land mine, and it killed all his cows. They no longer had a place to call home and they were roaming around.
