Since I'm so far behind on these updates I thought I'd post another one today. The previous page was about doubts courtesy of Inner Critic, today we look at the flipside - a home for pride.
While flipping through old magazines I saw this ad with a little girl in sepia tones with the text "When was the last time you felt proud of yourself?" I don't remember what the ad was for, but I knew within moments that I could find a home for it in the journal.
I decided on blue tones, though I originally had planned a brown page with a big brown velvet pocket fashioned out of a scrap of velvet that came from my Grandmother. The blues, however matched, allowed for a secondary pocket, and were a nice, calming hue. I felt the calm nature reflected what I wanted the layout to do.
I got out an old pair of Gideon's jeans and traced the pocket onto a piece of vinyl. Not long after I decided on the second pocket. The blue paper came from the Dollar Tree and came with five coordinating patterns in blue. I moved the pocket pattern down and traced the shape of the smaller pocket.
I got out the mounting tape and stuck it all together. Inside of the pockets will be scrapbooking tags with moments in my life that have resulted in pride. The large one will be moments relating to my life, and the smaller one relating to moments that I've felt pride for Gideon.
The full layout.

A closer look at the left side with the child.
Do you journal your prideful moments as well as your darker moments? Which one do you feel shows up more in the pages of your journal?

Thank you, Donna, Melanie, Elaine, Holli & Donna
Thank you Renda, I had hoped that I'd give you all a pause to think about moments YOU'VE all felt pride in life as well. It's so easy to remember the bad, but the good sometimes gets lost in all the negative.
I completely agree, Georgiana.
Glome I'm just THRILLED that it inspired you do something like this yourself. :)
Thank you so much, Linda. Your pages are just gorgeous, and I'm honored that you like this so much.
Thank you Elizabeth. Yes, I thought about it for a while before I actually made it. I like the blue far better than the original brown/neutral color I had planned to use.
Thank you SheWhoTalks and Listens. I think it was a sort of feminine ad, lol, but it was a beautiful image that I just NEEDED to use.
Thanks
great page!
