Unfortunately, perhaps due to Troopergate problems, her popularity has dipped a bit:
"New poll numbers show the Alaska governor's approval rating has taken its biggest hit since her election in 2006. "The Honeymoon Is Coming to an End," Ivan Moore Research of Anchorage said in its report.True, Palin's approval rating of 68% surely must cause envy among President Bush (check out his numbers here) and members of Congress (go here).
But the new figure for Palin is down from a high of 82% in January, which she replicated in the days following her surprise selection Aug. 29 as John McCain's running mate.
Also, her disapproval rating in the survey of 500 likely voters conducted Saturday through Monday was at 27% -- double what it was at the beginning of the month. The survey's margin of error was plus or minus 4.4%."
But a much more revealing poll came out yesterday run by the Public Mind Center at New Jersey's Fairleigh Dickinson University and the results were quite revealing:
In Delaware, 69% favored Biden over Palin as the one who "has the background and
experience to be a good President." Probably what you would expect as Delaware is Biden's home state. But in Alaska, 43% thought Biden had the background and experience to be President vs. 37% who picked Palin!
Regarding the Wall Street problems, Delaware residents preferred Biden to address them 44% to 20%, however Alaska residents picked Palin 35% to 30% in this department.
Better equipped to handle an unexpected international crisis, again Biden wins 73% to 14% in Delaware but also 44% to 32% in Alaska.
Palin did a bit better in her home state for handling the energy policy by 58% to 28%, but Biden beat out Palin in Delaware 51% to 31%.
Thus, even in Alaska, on the most important questions of who would make a good President, and who could handle an international crisis, Biden scored higher than the Alaska Governor Palin. Granted Palin did well on energy and Wall Street in her home state, but this was not a very impressive performance for this so-called popular Governor.
What do you think?

Let's hope the election process does not get derailed by McCain. Last night, one of the concencus opinions that came out of the White House meeting fiasco was:John McCain did nothing to help... he only hurt the process
And what is this with insulating Palin from journalists?
If she can't handle a few hard questions, how the hell is she going to handle being VP?
Imagine Biden being insulated like this by Obama...
It didn't go much better for Palin when she tried to clarify the mystery of what her state's proximity to Russia has taught her about that nation. Anyone south of the Arctic Circle would have seen this question coming and had a ready answer. But seemingly not the governor.
"We have trade missions back and forth," Palin told Couric. "We, we do, it's very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia as Putin rears his head and comes into the airspace of the United States of America, where, where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border. It is from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there. They are right next to, to our state."
Certainly, Russia's prime minister, Vladimir Putin, has demonstrated his willingness to invade its small neighbors. But have I missed news of recent provocations by Russian bombers over Kiwalik or Aleknagik? And if Palin has been intensely interested in her neighbor across the Bering Strait, that also has escaped the reporters who follow her most closely.
In fact, a veteran reporter from her home state, Hal Bernton, reported in the Seattle Times this month how Russian politicians had sought more contact with Palin, but in vain. The governor cut funding and her office's participation, it seems, in the Northern Forum, which promotes relations between regional governments in the Northern Hemisphere.
I hope more see this article Robert......the facts can't be disputed.
The though of Palin running this country is chilling to me!
