From Time magazine, we have a report about the candidates and their cars. We've heard already that McCain has seven to ten homes (it's hard to keep track when you have so many) and Obama has one. But here is the scoop on the cars. And then, after you read this, please don't call Obama an "elitist" again, okay?
When you have seven homes, that's a lot of garages to fill. After the fuss over the number of residences owned by the two presidential nominees, NEWSWEEK looked into the candidates' cars. And based on public vehicle-registration records, here's the score. John and Cindy McCain: 13. Barack and Michelle Obama: one.
One vehicle in the McCain fleet has caused a small flap. United Auto Workers president Ron Gettelfinger, an Obama backer, accused McCain this month of "flip-flopping" on who bought daughter Meghan's foreign-made Toyota Prius. McCain said last year that he bought it, but then told a Detroit TV station on Sept. 7 that Meghan "bought it, I believe, herself." (The McCain campaign did not respond to multiple requests for comment.)
Obama's lone vehicle also is a green machine, a 2008 Ford Escape hybrid. He bought it last year to replace the family's Chrysler 300C, a Hemi-powered sedan. Obama ditched the 300C, once 50 Cent's preferred ride, after taking heat for driving a guzzler while haranguing Detroit about building more fuel-efficient cars.

Just because Bammy doesnt have alot of cars, doesnt mean he isnt rich... Look at all of the ones running for Pres. even in the past... Didnt most of them have or come from money?? So try another angle Carla, this is getting stale.....

Obama 1 home, 1 hybrid vehicle and correct me if I am wrong, if my calculation is accurate, this means McCain's net worth is more than 40 times greater than Senator Obama's.
People call Senator Obama an Elitist, someone they can't relate to, where does this place Senator McCain? Senator McCain is ranked as the 17th wealthiest officials in Congress.
Maybe McCain will sit and cry in a beer with you guys after the election, not! Unless of course you are a very rich lobbyist!

So if his wife seems to know how to work the computer, and his wife and daughter seem to be the ones who know where and how many homes and cars they have...then I am thinking his wife should be the one running for President...she may not have a war heros story to tell, but at least she knows how to run the house...and pay the bills.

Who cares how many cars he has or they have or if McCains wife loves cars. It's just another pathetic attempt to steer people from the issues.
Issues like Davis who drove Freddie and fannie into the ground and charged them millions to do it is still part of the Obama campaign. Which Obama has completely denied.
Who has more contacts with Fannie and Freddie, Obama or McCain. Please get your facts straight. (Also count lobbiests for Fannie and Freddie.) Who was a staunch advocate of de-regulation of the mortgage industry in general and Freddie and Fannie in particular? Who voted with the current Administration over 90% of the time in preparing the economic environment for these problems.
I think you will find McCain's fingerprints all over our current economic mess.
Barack milked Fannie Mae of 111 million dollars. At least Cindy McCain paid for her cars and houses with her own money.
John McCain and the Republicans wanted to end Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac years ago. I guess the Democrats hadn't had a chance to steal all they could from it yet because the Dems wanted to keep those programs.
If we elect Obama, it is an inviitation for the Democrats to create more fat cat programs for themselves. How many billions of dollars will Barack steal and it all comes out of our pockets? I an't voting for that.

Might I suggest you take a few minutes out of wherever you have your head and get a grip on reality? Most of us are more concerned about the financial crisis and impending bailout in this country.
But Carla, don't you recognize your own statement? This was from you on one of the articles about Sarah Palin. Now you are more concerned about cars and dresses? It's all very confusing. Is there a schedule on when to be concerned about which issues? Maybe a calendar we can go by?
Because the democrats blocked it. And Obama and his advisors were too busy making money. Oversight was proposed by Bush as far back as 2003. One of Obama's chief advisors of Obama made $90 mil on it. Still sorting out the facts on this so don't worry, I will be back. If more people dropped their political party hyperbole, they might be able to see this.
Cathi - Obama was NEVER a minority (rothfl) and the majority of Toyota parts are made in the US (can't use the good ole foreign car opposition position anymore). If he'd read consumers' reports he'd have seen that the trade off was never going to pay for itself economically - which means he caved to public pressure to drive what 'looked' good to others. I think the car thing is silly. I don't care if McCain's entire fleet is made up of German cars made during the late 30s or Yugos.
McCain is a rich guy. He embodies the Horatio Alger dream of marrying an heiress.
On the other hand, Sen. McCain continues to have his campaign run by current PAID lobbysts for Fannie, Freddie and other failed financial institutions. And Pres. Bush's Treasury Secretary Paulson came straight to that job from Goldman. The Republican advisors on this economic mess are covered in mud up to their alligators from the bad policies that got us to this point. Is this who we should give total power to with no oversight? NOT!!!
