Since each elector seems to think his/her elected officials are wonderful, and need to be continually re-elected, why is it that the congressional approval rating is considerably lower than that of our current president? Can it be remotely possible that the electorate is not well informed, or the incumbent candidates speak with self-serving forked tongues? The solution is to eliminate bafflegab and vote-selling by prohibiting the professionalizing of Congress and thus continually refresh the hallowed halls of Congress with new ideas, a spirit of bipartisanship, and enthusiasm for other than the incumbent.

A recent letter writer noted that the chairman of the Senate Banking Committee (our Sen. Dodd) stated that he was going to get to the root of the cause of the current national financial debacle. Wow, such hubris, and how conveniently he sounded aggressive in the face of calamity! This is a classic case for congressional term limits. Dodd need look no further than his own office, for he is part and parcel of the debacle. Had term limits been the rule of the land, our congresspersons would be working for the good of the country and its citizens rather than for congressional perpetuity, necessitating that (their) votes go to the highest bidder.
